Born in 1926, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mabel (Estelle) Wiles of New Albany. As a young woman, Roberta worked at Sylvania during the war effort and then later at Weldon’s Pajama Factory, Lopez. She and Donald were married in 1944, and spent 64 years together. In her 91 years, Roberta raised 5 children while helping to run the family farm. Don and Roberta traveled extensively for many years, touring the country in their RV. Roberta enjoyed flowers, gardening, fishing, cooking, picking berries and quilting. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Dushore for many years, then later in life, Redeemer Church in Dushore.
Roberta I. Kneller, 91, passed away December 30, 2017 at her home near Kinsley’s Corners, Dushore.

Jane Ellen Skelly Callahan, of Crofton, Md., died peacefully at home on Dec. 29, 2017.
She was born on April 1, 1921, in Ralston, the daughter of Thomas F. and Alma Breen Skelly. Mrs. Callahan was a graduate of Ralston High School and then received a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education from Pennsylvania State University, where she was a member of Theta Phi Alpha women’s fraternity. She later served on the Penn State Alumni Council. She was a retired teacher. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Robert J. Callahan,who died in 1998; a sister, Ann M. Skelly; and a daughter-in-law, Debra J. Callahan. Rose Marie Waldrip, 86, of Canton, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, December 29, 2017 at her home while surrounded by loving family.
Rose Marie was born February, 22, 1931 in Canton, a daughter of the late Edward William and Mable Irene (Benjamin) Loomis. Marie attended Canton Area Schools and later attained her GED. In earlier years, she was employed as a Data Processer with RCA in Bloomington, Indiana and then with the U.S. Air Force in Guam. Later, Marie would retire following several years working as a Certified Nurses Aide with Guthrie Home & Health Care. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Towanda, where she enjoyed serving as a Bible Teacher. She also was talented at crocheting and loved gardening. Betty J. Koch, formerly of Williamsport, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017, at the Bradford County Manor Home, Troy, Pa.
She was born in Williamsport, on Feb. 12, 1928, to the late Charles and Lillian (Smith) Tupper. Betty was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on Sept. 20, 1958. She remained faithful in bearing witness to the good news of God’s Kingdom long after her health began to fail. Betty graduated from Williams-port High School in 1947. Her first job was at C. A. Reed Co. where she worked as a secretary. She was last employed by the Williamsport School District. Her interests included her ministry, gardening, listening to music, entertaining friends and reading, especially from the Bible. She loved her cats. Betty enjoyed traveling and for many years vacationed in Ocean City, Md. with her two daughters. Betty is survived by two daughters, Faith M. Koch, Williamsport and Carol A. Lash, Canton; brother, Robert Tupper, Dallas, PA; and sister, Ruth Calistri-Grieco (Carmen), Williamsport; along with 5 grandchildren: Joyce Craul, Natalie Route (Dennis), Brooke Tillotson (Paul), Michael Acresti (Laura) and Teresa Collins. She is also survived by several great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Werner R. Koch; a daughter, Joyce Elizabeth; and a grandson, Rodney Aderhold. Steven J. Hansen, 73, of Alba, passed away while surrounded by loved ones Thursday, December 28, 2017. Steven James was born in Brooklyn, NY April 30, 1944, a son of the late Otto Vellerup Hansen and Mary (Tobiansky) Szczsinisniwicz. Steve was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked as an auto body technician and mechanic. Most recently for Fitzpatrick & Lambert in Dushore and earlier at McClure Auto Dealership in Troy. Steve, “Papa Hansen”, will always be remembered for his “pink bellies” and “circus tricks” but mostly for his endless supply of love and joy of his four wonderful and amazing granddaughters. Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law; Michael and Kathryn Hansen of Marietta, PA, four granddaughters who were the light of his life; Hailey, Zoe, Aurora and Willow, two brothers and a sister; Sam Hansen of Dover, NJ, Orey Hansen of Lewisburg and Andrea Seymour of Greer, SC, four nephews and two nieces, special friends; Steve and Carol Bastion and Julia Palmer all of Alba, The gang at Troy Lunch and his cat, Pumpkin. Kepler Sr., 75, Trout Run, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2017.
Born Sept. 15, 1942, in Canton, he was a son of Jesse A. and Beatrice M. (Bassett) Kepler. Stanley was a Vietnam War Veteran of the U.S. Navy having served on the USS San Pablo. He worked many years in construction and had been the Business Agent for the Laborers Local No. 708. He retired as the human resource manager for Nicholas Meats, Loganton. Stanley enjoyed spending time with his family, going on cross country motorcycle trips, woodworking, shooting pool, playing cards and was an avid Penn State Football fan. Surviving are three children, David Splain (Tina), Williamsport, Christine Splain, Williamsport, and Dianne Kepler, Williamsport; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Deborah Nicholas, Montoursville; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Wilburn E. Porter, 94, passed away December 26, 2017 in Wauchula, FL.
Mr. Porter was born in Shunk on February 7, 1923 and moved to Fort Meade, FL fulltime from Canton, PA in 2000, after being a winter visitor for many years. He was a retired home furnishing retailer and a member of the New Life Baptist Church in Fort Meade. Mr. Porter was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Norma Porter; son, Eugene C. Porter. Bruce A. Andrien, Sr., devoted father, passed away peacefully at home on December 25, 2017 in the evening. Bruce was born on April 11, 1935 in Philadelphia, PA and lived for many years in West Chester, PA. Bruce and his family moved to West Burlington, Pa in December of 1977. Bruce was a well-known self-employed contractor for all of his adult life. His mastery and passion for building showed through in his work, especially the stonework he took much pride in. Bruce joined his family in Heaven, which included his wife of over 50 years, Loraine Hall Andrien; parents, Leonard and Rita Andrien; step-father James (aka Big Jim) Andrien; in-laws, Victor and Josephine Hall; brother and sister-in-law, James (aka Jimmy) and Jill Andrien; step brother Jamie Andrien; and 2 nieces and 2 nephews. Bruce is survived by his siblings, Rita Cassidy of Atlantic City, NJ, Leonard Andrien of West Chester, PA, and Vaune and Joe Bruno of West Chester, PA. Bruce is also survived by his children, Denise and Lawrence (aka Sonny) Mays of West Burlington, Pa; Bruce Jr and Leonora Andrien of Guilford, CT; Lorin and Lorrie (Baxter) Andrien of Canton, PA. Lynn L. Comfort, Jr. (Shorty) age 79 of Corryton, TN passed away December 24, 2017.
Born in Elmira, NY on March 20, 1938. Lynn worked for Ward LaFrance, building fire trucks, for 25 years before moving to Knoxville, TN. He worked as a school bus driver for 18 years and mowed lawns before retirement. Shorty loved people and never met a stranger. He loved music and dancing. He is preceded in death by his parents Alverta and Lynn Comfort and brother Phillip. Survived by his wife, Grace, of 60 years. Daughters are Lynda (Dan) Homet from Granville Summit, and Sandra (Kendall) Marine of Knoxville, TN. Sons are Steven Comfort from Gillett and Thomas Comfort from Knoxville, TN. Grandchildren are Joshua (Becky) Homet, Jordan (Raelyn) Homet, Brittany (Ethan) Jandreau, Alyssa (Lucas) Anthony, Krista (Tim) Baker, McKenna Comfort, Alex Dailey, Adam Marine and five great grandchildren. His surviving brothers are Alan (Lillian) Comfort and Ronald Comfort, Elmira, NY.
