Joseph Richard (Rick) Storrs

​    Joseph Richard (Rick) Storrs, El Cajon, CA passed away the afternoon of July 29, 2017 after a long battle with cancer.
    Rick was bon on October 5, 1930, the son of LaRue and Jeanie Storrs of Canton.
    He is survived by his wife, Betty Marie Storrs, Belinda, Bruce and Brenda; stepsons, David Posladek and Gary Poslandek; cousins in the Canton area, Elaine Bennett Shedden, Shirley Storrs Rathbun, Phyllis Storrs Beck, Leon English, Jr, Charles Storrs, Willamsport, and Janet Williams Sholtz, Harrisburg.
    A military service to honor Rick was held August 17 at Miramar National Cemetery, San Diego, CA.

Linnet M. Konkle

  Linnet M. Konkle, 69,  Williamsport, passed away unexpectedly Friday, July 28, 2017. Surviving is her loving husband of 47 years, Thomas R. Konkle.
  Born January 2, 1948 in Elmira, NY, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Leslie McIlwain and Eunice (Lovejoy) McIlwain, Ellenton.
  Linnet graduated from Williamsport Area Community College with a nursing degree and found a passion in caring for others early on while working as a nurse at Divine Providence Hospital and Dr. Shue’s office.  Linnet also worked at the Christian Light Book Store and volunteered at the Williamsport Hospital during retirement.
​   She attended Trinity United Methodist Church and enjoyed quilting and knitting. Linnet was always giving of herself to help others in need. She sent handmade cards and caring thoughts to countless others throughout the years, spreading joy. Her pride and joy, however, was her family, as she loved her role being a mom and grandma.

Janette (Darrow) Stowell

    Janette (Darrow) Stowell,  101, passed away in Locust Grove, Virginia at the home of her granddaughter. 
    Janette was born October 17, 1915 in Granville Summit, PA daughter of the late Herman and Bertha (Stanton) Darrow. 
    She was married to the late Stanley A. Stowell who predeceased her in 2000. 
    Janette was employed as a housekeeper for many years and enjoyed spending time with her loving family. 
    She was a former member of the East Smithfield United Methodist Church and current member of the Abundant Life Christian Fellowship while living in Locust Grove.

Justin Ray Laudenslager

    During the early morning of Wednesday, July 26th, 2017,  Justin Ray Laudenslager, 25,  Gillett  passed away unexpectedly.   
    Born in Elmira, NY, on March 2nd, 1992, he was the son of Lloyd and Sandy (Kinner) Laudenslager.  
 Justin was the husband of Samantha (Vieira) Laudenslager, and together they were raising three children.  He had been employed at the Johnson Quarry as an equipment operator.  
  Justin was an outgoing, friendly man with a great sense of humor who made friends easily.  He was fond of basketball and swimming, but his main passion was his family.  The well-being of his wife and children was paramount.

Henry W. Saxton

   Henry W. Saxton,  54, of Granville Summit passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at home as a result of an accident. 
     Henry was born April 6, 1963 in Troy the son of Kay Helen (Kennedy) Saxton and the late Stanley C. Saxton. 
​    Henry was a graduate of the Troy High School Class of 1981 and attended Williamsport Community College. He and the former Lori A. Lowry were married on September 15, 1990 and celebrated 26 years together. 
    Henry was a lifelong farmer and steward of the land. He operated his Holstein Dairy Farm in Granville Summit and enjoyed planting and harvesting his crops. He was currently the Granville Town Supervisor and in his spare time enjoyed reading historical non-fiction, snowmobiling and he devoted his life to his family and farm.

Sharon Rae VanZile Guernsey

 Sharon Rae VanZile Gurnsey,  73, Inverness, FL quietly passed away  Thursday, July 20, 2017, at the Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast.
 She  was born on February 8, 1944, the daughter of the late Raymon and Florence  (Seymour) VanZile.
     Sharon started her career as a X-ray Technician at the  Arnot Ogden Hospital before becoming a bookkeeper. She was the treasurer and  lifetime member of the First Baptist Church of Troy. Sharon loved to read, spend time with her family and laugh with her friends, especially her  classmates of the Class of 1962. She retired in 2006 from Oak Hill Veneer. 
    Sharon and George relocated to Inverness, FL in 2012. She attended the First  Presbyterian Church, volunteered for the Citrus County Crime Watch, as well 
as enjoyed countless dinners and card games with her friends.
    Sharon was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother (known as Mimi), aunt, and  friend. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her. Her love and  kindness will live in the hearts of so many people

Phyllis Chappel Jolley

    Phyllis Chaapel Jolley, 87, passed away peacefully from this life the morning of July 20th, 2017.  She was surrounded and supported by her loving family and caregivers during her final days.  
   Phyllis was born in Leroy to Harley and Nora Rogers Chaapel on November 29th, 1929.              She graduated from Canton High School in 1947 & from St. Agnes School of Nursing in Baltimore, MD as an RN in 1951.  She has called Orlando, Florida home since 1956.
  Always the caregiver, Phyllis touched the lives of so many with her thoughtfulness and kindness.  As a founding member of the Azalea Park Suburban Women’s Club, she gave back to her community for over 50 years. The love she had for her family and music, especially playing the piano, was paramount throughout her life.    Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Charles C. Jolley formerly of Troy;  three children - Alan Jolley, Mary Bonifay and Roger Jolley; and two adored granddaughters – Emily Alyse Bonifay and Ande Nora Joyce-Jolley.
  A Memorial service celebrating Phyllis’s life will be held Saturday, August 12th @ 2 pm at Watercrest of Lake Nona, 9682 Lake Nona Village Place, Orlando, Florida 32827  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in the honor of Phyllis Jolley to the Alzheimer’s Association:  www.alz.org

Duane Kinch Bohlayer

      Duane Kinch Bohlayer, 89, New Holland, PA, passed away on July 12, 2017.  
    He was born in Canton  on July 20, 1927, the youngest child of the late William F. and Rosa Kinch Bohlayer. 
    Duane is survived by Betty Bohlayer, his wife of eight years, and children Larry Bohlayer (Sherrie), Georgia Loder (Walt), and Dennis Bohlayer (Linda), who recently predeceased him.         Previously deceased wives, Eunice (Tomkins) and Martha (Tomkins Campbell) were sisters originally from Ellenton.  He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
 As a young man, Duane was raised on the family farm in Canton.  
    He graduated from Canton High School in 1945 and enlisted in the US Navy (Seabees) where he served on WWII troop ships and in the Philippines. 
     Duane married Eunice Tomkins, his high school sweetheart in 1946. He held brief employment at Fox Chase Farms and the Canton Dairy after which he lived and worked at his brother Franklin’s farm in East Canton. (The farm is now known as the Manley-Bohlayer Farm, site of the Pennsylvania Apple and Cheese Festival).

Lynn E. Ayres

 Lynn E. Ayres of Granville Summit, passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at the Cornerstone Personal Care Home in New Tripoli, PA surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of the late Louise E. (Bristol) Ayres who passed away on November 7, 2013.  The couple married June 18, 1949 and had 64 wonderful years together.
  Lynn was born on June 14, 1928 in Johnson City, NY, son of the late Arthur and Mary (Harris) Ayres.  He was a 1946 graduate of Troy High School. Lynn farmed, was a part-time police officer, a sheriff’s deputy, and tax collector.  In 1988 Lynn became Magistrate of Bradford County District Court 42-3-1 until his retirement ten years later.  He was a life member of the Windfall United Methodist Church, was a Trustee, Superintendent, was on the cemetery board, and helped with the building of the Windfall parsonage.  Lynn enjoyed hunting and spending time with family and friends. Lynn is survived by his children: Calvin (Sandra) Ayres of New Tripoli, PA and Nancy (Gary) Earle of Reading, PA, his grandsons: Christopher (Megan) Earle, Michael (Erin) Earle, Bradley (Laura) Ayres, Mark Ayres and Scott Ayres,  great grandchildren: Molly Earle, Sarah Earle, Jonathan Earle, Conner Earle, Zoey Ayres, and Ashlynn Earle;   brother-in-law Clyde (Marilyn) Bristol of Kansas; sister-in-law Lucille (Herb) Mallory, Marion, PA, along with several nieces and nephews.

 Lydia Janette (Darrow) Stowell, Age 101, passed away in Locust Grove, Virginia at the home of her granddaughter. 
    Janette was born October 17, 1915 in Granville Summit, daughter of the late Herman and Bertha (Stanton) Darrow. 
    She was married to the late Stanley A. Stowell who predeceased her in 2000. Janette was employed as a housekeeper for many years and enjoyed spending time with her loving family. She was a former member of the East Smithfield United Methodist Church and current member of the Abundant Life Christian Fellowship while living in Locust Grove. Her interests included playing piano, cooking, gardening and taking care of her flowers and dancing.
