Bruce "Bucky" Buck

    Bruce E. Buck or ‘Bucky’, 77, of Troy, PA, died Sunday, April 30, 2017 at Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton, NC.
    A memorial service will be held at a later date in Troy, PA.
    He was born on February 17, 1940 in Bloomsburg, PA, he was a son of the late Fred and Blanche Klinger Buck. He was a veteran of the US Army.  He worked as a butcher at Leona Meat Plant for most of his life.  
   He was an active member at the American Legion and in the Lions Club.   He loved spending his time playing golf and making people laugh.  His favorite thing to do was to spend time with his six grandsons.  He was a wonderful Dad and Grandpa!
   He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Lou Woodward Buck.
​    Surviving are two daughters, Carol Appleyard of Richlands, NC and Brenda Buck Ramadhan and husband TJ of Olean, NY.  Bucky had six grandsons that he loved dearly, Sean Appleyard, Ryan Appleyard, Dylan Appleyard, Elijah Ramadhan, Kaleb Ramadhan, and Gabriel Ramadhan. 

Douglas Wendall Watkins

 Douglas Wendall Watkins, 33, of Troy, passed away at his home on Saturday, April 29, 2017. 
    He was born on January 28, 1984 in Sayre, a son of Wendall Watkins and Linda Ann (Jarrell) Watkins. 
  Doug was employed at the Canton Machine Shop, and R.S.J. Technologies, LLC.  He enjoyed playing horseshoes, billiards, hunting, ice hockey and fishing.
   Douglas is survived by his mother, Linda Jarrell, Troy;  father, Wendall and Becky Watkins, Columbia Cross Roads;  brother, Jason Watkins, Columbia Cross Roads; sister, Lonnie Watkins, East Troy; special cousin/brother, Michael Watkins; maternal grandmother, Monica Jarrell, Granville Summit; grandmother, Joyce Watkins,  Columbia Cross Roads; his companion, Heather Smith and his beautiful dog, Delilah.

   Janis L. (Heckman) Cole, 87, of Columbia Cross Roads, PA passed away April 28, 2017 at the Bradford County Manor.
   Janis was born on March 9, 1930 in Towanda, PA, daughter of the late Harry and Lena (Lafy) Heckman.  She was a Towanda High School graduate and was Assistant Manager at American Silk Label in Troy, PA.  Janis was an avid bowler, bowling on several leagues in both Canton and Troy, enjoyed things like mowing her lawn and gardening, and loved all aspects of nature and its creatures.  
     Janis is survived by her daughter Christy K. (James) Pazzaglia of Columbia Cross Roads, her grandchildren: Justin S. (Meghan) Leonard, Amie S. Leonard, Brock J. (Jaquelyn) Everts, Jamie L. Pazzaglia, Megan A. Pazzaglia, and Krista C. Pazzaglia, her brothers: Richard (Sharon) Heckman, John “Jack” (Marge) Heckman, and James Heckman, her step children including Carolanne Dibble, several nieces and nephews, and her beloved pets.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother June Heckman.

 Shannon Williams, 50, was taken from Earth unexpectedly to be joined with her mother and sister on April 26, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Elmira, NY.
    Shannon was born December 23, 1966 in Troy, PA, a daughter of Robert “Bob” Williams of Troy and the late Darlene “Tootie” (Alexander) Williams.  She was a member of Troy High School’s graduating class of 1984.  Shannon will be remembered for her empathy for others.  She enjoyed decorating her home and was a talented crafter, cook and baker. In earlier years Shannon especially enjoyed following her children’s sports activities.
   In addition to her father Bob Williams, surviving by children; Kaitlyn (Matt) Machmer, Zachary Strobridge and Makenzie Strobridge all of Troy; niece, Krista (Brock) Nichols, Upper Darby, PA and several cousins. 
   Shannon was predeceased by her mother Darlene; sister, Marcy Morseman and a nephew, Shayne Morseman
    Services will be private as well as burial in St. John’s Cemetery, Troy.  Pepper Funeral Home in Canton is assisting the family with arrangements.  Share condolences at www.pepperfuneralhomes.com

  Joyce E. (Cronk) Bristol Lenton, 80,  Troy, PA, passed away April 25, 2017 at home surrounded by her family.  
   Joyce was born on August 31, 1936 in Gouverneur, NY, daughter of the late Wilbur and Betty (Morgan) Cronk, Sr. 
   She was a housekeeper at the Bradford County Manor until her retirement. 
    Joyce attended the East Smithfield Federated Church and Olde Covert Church on Armenia Mountain.  
   She was  a past member of the Canton Moose, enjoyed bowling in the ladies leagues at Terrace Lanes, was an avid hunter and even hunted rattle snakes, liked a good game of darts and Euchre, and was a passionate gardener.
​    Surviving are her children: Betty S. (Larry) Rowe, Milan, PA, Angela J. (Larry) Graham, East Smithfield, PA, Donna M. DuVall, Troy, PA, Diane E. Bristol, Armenia Mountain, PA, Robin F. Sullivan, St. Cloud, FL, Robert F. Bristol, Jr., Palm Bay, FL, Vernon W. (Terri) Bristol,  Alba, PA, and Valerie A. Bristol of Florida; 16 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren;  sisters: Margaret Hall,  Ellenton, FL, Marie Rennecke, Ridgeway, PA, and Rosalie Mosher, St. Mary’s, PA, along with several nieces and nephews.

Raymond W. Gleason

   Raymond W. Gleason, Jr., age 84, Troy, PA, died Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Guthrie-Towanda Memorial Hospital.  
   He was born May 13, 1932 in Middlebury Center, PA, a son of Raymond, Sr. and Lila Leola (Southard) Gleason.     Raymond was the widow of Rita J. Gleason who died January 11, 2013.
   He was truck driver for over 30 years employed by Paper Magic; Corning Glass, GTP Sylvania, the Daily Express, and was a caretaker for Hulton Park.  
​    Raymond was a member of the East Troy United Methodist Church, enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling.  He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Gary Lee Barrett

    Gary Lee Barrett was born on July 18, 1957, in Troy, and passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at Strong Memorial Hospital after battling cancer. Gary was the son of the late Robert and Ethel (Wood) Barrett.
     Gary graduated from the Troy School District. 
    He was an auto mechanic in the Troy area. He worked for Grace and Schambacher Mobile Station. He also worked at Dick Hulslander's garage until he became self-employed. 
    He was a man who would do anything for anyone. 
   Gary loved motorcycle riding, building derby cars and building racing and stock cars. Fixing cars for people was his life.
   He is survived by Gene (Helena) Barrett, Big Flats, NY; along with several nieces and nephews.
   He is predeceased by  parents;  sisters, Doris Ayers and Betty Matthews; and brothers, Robert Barrett, Joseph Barrett, Wayne Barrett and Fred Barrett.
​    Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 20 at Central Assembly of God, One Brenway Drive in Horseheads, N.Y.

James H. Rockwell

      James H. Rockwell, of Canton, passed away on April 18, 2017.
    Visitation will be held at the Canton Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ) from 1 pm to 3 pm on Saturday, April 22.
    Services will follow at 3 pm.
     Interment will be in Park Cemetery, Canton.

James H. Rockwell

On the evening of Monday, April 17th, 2017, well-known Canton resident, James H. Rockwell passed away quietly at Twin Oaks Personal Care Home in Granville Summit.  He was 88 years of age.
    Born October 25th, 1928  in Canton, he was the son of Martin L. and Violet (Varney) Rockwell.   Mr. Rockwell was a graduate of Canton High School, as well as  Pennsylvania State University, where he received a B.S. in Agriculture Economics.  
    He served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and returned home to manage the family business following the death of his older brother.
       He was married to the former Carol Little, and together they shared 63 years and raised three sons. 
    Mr. Rockwell led a very busy life for many years.  Over the years in addition to running his business he  served as president and board member of the Co-operative Feed Dealers Association, board member of the former First National Bank of Canton and president of Canton Borough Council.  He was an active member of Canton Lodge # 415 Free & Accepted Masons,  Old Possessions Hunting Club and the Nittany Lions Club, and was a Penn State season ticket holder for many years.   He was also famous for his classic Model T Ford, which he often drove in local parades and offered to young couples  for weddings.
