TIMOTHY R. “TIM” ALLEN

On Friday, November 20, 2020, lifelong Canton area resident Timothy Robert Allen passed away peacefully at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre.

He was 76 years of age. Born at his family’s farm October 17, 1944, he was the son of Albert and Dorothy (Laninger) Allen.

im was a graduate of Canton area High School and was blessed with a strong work ethic. Over the years he worked at coal mining and construction, and more recently as an assistant manager for PennDOT. He married his high school sweetheart, Dianne (Bellows) Allen, on August 25, 1964, and together they raised two daughters and shared 42- years until her passing in 2006.

In 2011 Tim married Patricia (nee Rieman) Curran, who brought into his life six daughters of her own. Tim enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, camping, trapping and tinkering in the garage, all of which are traits that he passed on to his grandchildren. He was also a member of Canton Lodge #415 F&AM, A special thanks to Edna Byler and family for their devoted care giving.

Tim is survived by his wife, Patricia, , daughters Tina (& Jack) Seeley, Gina (& William) Bastion, grandchildren Joshua (& Tessa) Seeley, Melinda Seeley, Kyle (& Kristen) Bastion, Kody Bastion (& Paige Van Noy), great-grandchildren Hunter Seagraves, Blaine Jennings, Kolten Bastion, Klayton Bastion, Kensley Bastion, Baby Seeley, two step-great grandchildren, Mack and Brantley, stepdaughters Carol (& Ken) Sherwood, Connie (& James) Murphy, Bobbie Pratt, Lisa (& Mike) Redlich, Candy Drake (& Jeremy Saltzer), Sandra (& Kenny) Sieglaff, seventeen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be Tuesday, November 24, 11:00 a.m., at Beech Flats Cemetery. Social distancing will be observed. Professional services entrusted to Morse & Kleese Funeral Home, Canton, PA. (morseandkleesefuneralhome.com)

Virginia L. (Doddato) Jones

Virginia L. (Doddato) Jones, 84 of Ralston, PA left her earthly family to join her heavenly family, on Thursday evening, November 19, 2020.

Virginia Louise was born on September 10, 1936 in Addison NY to the late Gilbert and Catherine Doddato. She attended Canton High School and graduated with the class of 1953. Though out high school, she worked for her father at the former Canton Diner and the local A&P grocery store. She met and married the love of her life, William “Bill” Jones and together they raised their family in Ralston. Bill preceded her in death on December 31, 2016 following 61 years of devoted marriage. Virginia was a member of the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Ralston and their Women’s Alter and Rosary Society.

“Ginny” as she was known to her friends and family, worked at many different jobs over the years but her proudest moment was raising her four boys; William (and Sally) Jones of Phoenixville, PA, Michael (and Cathy) Jones of Middlesex, N.J., Gary (and Jennifer) Jones, Jay (and Wanda) Jones all of Ralston and a special place in her heart for Robert Finnimore of Baltimore MD. Ginny was blessed with 4 surviving grandchildren; Cody, Caleigh, Makenna, and Dakoda, a great granddaughter, Karleigh.

In addition to her parents and husband William, she was predeceased by; a brother, Fred and a sister, Patricia Doddato, special grandsons; “Big” Jake Jones and “Little” Jake Jones.

In keeping with Ginny’s wishes, a graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in the Pennsdale Cemetery near Bodines, PA.

In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials in Mrs. Jones’ name to the St. Aloysius Catholic Church or the SPCA of Lycoming County.

Cynthia (Updegraff) Eoute

Cynthia (Updegraff) Eoute, 66, of Ralston, passed away on Monday, November 16, 2020 at UPMC Susquehanna Hospital in Williamsport. 

Cynthia Jane was born November 13, 1954 in Williamsport to the late Arthur Updegraff Sr. and Phyllis Atherton-Ely.

Neal Toms

Neal Toms, 76, of Troy, PA., passed away at Guthrie Troy Community Hospital on Friday, November 20, 2020.

Neal was born December 5, 1943 to the late Roy and Helen (Hartman) Toms. He was employed by Troy Area School district for several years as a school bus driver.

Betty Lou (Tice) Putnam Mosley

Betty Lou (Tice) Putnam Mosley, 86, of Troy, PA passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2020.

She was born on November 8, 1934 in Canton, PA, daughter of the late Harry Harvey and Goldie Pearl (Griffen) Tice. Betty enjoyed needlepoint, puzzles, and spending time with family and friends.

Betty is survived by her children: Leon (June) Putnam, Jr. of Mansfield, PA, Deborah A. (David) Smith of Franklindale, PA, Kevin Keith (Jenifer) Putnam, Belinda S. (Joseph) Packard, Kim L. Putnam, and Tina (Gary) Wilson all of Troy, PA, 20 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, several stepchildren, ex-husband Leon Putnam, Sr., along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William Mosley who passed away May 25, 2002, her son Steve Putnam who passed away on May 25, 2012, her brother Thomas Tice, and her sister Helena Van Horn.

Dr. Clarence Albert Scott, DO

Dr. Clarence Albert Scott, DO, 68, a 23 year resident of Lee County, FL, formerly of Troy, PA, passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2020 in Naples, FL. He was born October 22, 1952 in Troy, PA.

Clarence was a treasured member of the communities of both Troy, PA and the Fort Myers/Cape Coral, FL area during his 38 years of medical practice as a family practitioner.  He is remembered by his family as a caring husband, father, and grandfather who always placed their needs in front of his own.  His patients remember Dr Scott as an exemplification of a vanishing breed of physicians, where he treated every patient as if they were a member of his own family.

Clarence graduated from Troy High School, then attended Mansfield University, Graduated with a degree in Medicine at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1981.  He held the office of President for Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association in 1993.  He later earned his degree in Master of Business Administration at the University of South Florida in 1997.

L. Lawrence Kilbourn

L. Lawrence Kilbourn, 91, of Roaring Branch, (Union Township, Pennsylvania) passed away peacefully at his home Sunday afternoon, November 8, 2020, while surrounded by his loving family. Lloyd Lawrence was born in Union Township on January 12, 1929 to the late Lloyd Gaylord and Ida Odesska (Williams) Kilbourn. On April 4, 1953, Lawrence married the love of his life, Shirley Jenkins in the Ogdensburg Church of Christ. Together they shared 55 years of marriage and raised three children until her passing in 2008.

Throughout life Lawrence was involved with the farming industry.  Lawrence, along with his late wife Shirley, owned and operated the family’s dairy farm in Roaring Branch. They and the children worked together and saw to the daily operations until 1988, when he sold the farm to his son Gaylord. While running the dairy farm Lawrence also established Lawrence Kilbourn Dairy Equipment on W. Union St. in Canton.  Lawrence was a very hard and dedicated worker. After selling the farm he worked at various businesses including; Eastern Milk Producers, Wynne’s Garage in Gleason, Crossroad’s Equipment and Hess Farm Equipment in Canton. Never really retiring, he loved the outdoors and enjoyed driving the countryside, cutting wood and assisting with all aspects of the farm and its field work. Taking care of his family was of his utmost importance. Lawrence will be remembered as being a very soft-hearted and caring man.

Phyllis M Rockwell, 89 of Syracuse, NY passed away on November 11, 2020 at home surrounded by loved ones. She was the wife of Willard “Jack” Rockwell with whom she shared 62 years of marriage. Born in Coatesville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Norman F. and Elizabeth King Peters.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter Melissa A.Bartlett wife of Jay M. Bartlett of Syracuse, NY.  Grandaughters Brittany (Christopher) Barbano, Amanda (Colby) Rocker, Jessica (Nicholas) Griffith, grandson Cody Mckissick and great-grandchildren Owen and Mia Rocker and Cassidy and Cailey Griffith. Also survived is her sister Joan Reath.

Judy D. Callahan

Judy D. Callahan, beloved wife, mother, and friend passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones on Friday, November 13, 2020.  Judy was born in Hornell, NY to a family of 10 loving brothers and sisters.  She met the love of her life, John (Jack) Callahan while she was working at the Hotel Hornell.  October 25, 1969, they wed and spent 46 years enjoying their adventures before Jack passed away in March 2016.

Six months after their daughter, Bridget, was born they moved to Canton and settled on their family farm. In March of 1973 Judy welcomed her son, Shawn, to the family. She and Jack raised their family on the farm and Mom, at times, could be very vocal about being a farmer’s wife but deep down she never would have wanted it any other way.  She enjoyed spending her summers at Waneta Lake and sharing stories of her adventures growing up.
