She enjoyed reading, knitting, and crocheting. Patty took great pride in keeping her home looking beautiful inside and especially outside, where she loved to tend to her garden of gorgeous plants and flowers. Most of all Patty loved to spend time with her granddaughter, Isabella and the rest of her family. She will be deeply missed by her family and loved ones.
Patricia “Patty” Ann Haverly, age 60, tragically passed away near her home in Camptown, PA, on May 31, 2018. Patty was born on April 8, 1958 in Towanda, the daughter of the late John S. Boyanowski and Ruby L. Anderson Boyanowski of Camptown. She grew up and lived in Camptown her entire life. She was a graduate of Wyalusing Valley High School with the Class of 1976. Patty retired from DuPont in Towanda, where she worked as a lab technician for over 30 years.

Cherie Eastabrook Sutton, 47, Wysox, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2018 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was a patient of the Sayre Health Care Facility in Sayre.
Cherie was born in Towanda on January 19, 1971, the youngest daughter of Barbara J. Hufford of Canton and Rexford B. Eastabrook of Milan. Cherie graduated from Towanda High School and Mansfield University. She was employed as a respiratory therapist at Robert Packer Hospital before her illness made it impossible to continue working. She enjoyed her job very much and loved the people she worked with. Patrick A. Dandois, 69, Troy, PA, passed away on May 28, 2018 at Troy Memorial Hospital.
He was born on April 20, 1949 in Troy, PA, a son of G.F. and Charlotte (Macomber) Dandois. Patrick had been employed with Cumming’s Lumber for over 37 years. He loved working with lumber, hunting, fishing, his home, his pool, collection of stuff and tools. He was a member of the Roseville United Methodist Church and the Troy American Legion. Patrick was a US Veteran having served in the Marines during the Vietnam Era. ![]() During the early morning of Friday, May 25th, 2018 Ellenton resident Bertha Mae Bagley passed away quietly at Geisinger Medical Center. She was 81 years of age. Known to family and friends as Bea, she was born January 8th, 1937 at her family’s Ellenton Mountain dairy farm and was the daughter of Robert and Elsie (Dickerson) Bagley. She went on to have a long career as a secretary, paralegal and personal assistant in Washington D.C. with AMTRAK, The American Bankers Association and at the Pentagon. She returned home to the mountains upon the death of her father in 1989. Bea had an undeniable love for God and music. She played piano and organ at her church for many years, as well as singing with the church’s trio. ![]() Charles C. Jolley, originally from Troy, passed away on May 24th, 2018 He had many ‘adventures’ while in Troy. Many were substantiated by his partners in crime and most were denied by Charlie. Those that can remember the event, or have read the newspaper accounts, wonder who scaled the smoke stack in Troy on Halloween to light a lantern. Speculation had it that Charlie was the ‘the intrepid lad’. After many years Charlie finally admitted it was he. In fact he climbed it twice. Once with the lantern and then again with the matches required to light it since he’d forgotten them on the first trip up the stack. After Korea he settled in Orlando and was a successful accountant and father. ![]() Cody Drew Wesneski, 26 of Canton Township is now at peace, after years of battling the disease of addiction. He passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2018. Born on March 13, 1992, in Towanda, he was the son of David and Beverly Harris Wesneski. He was a 2011 graduate of Canton Area High School. Cody was an avid fooftball player from age six up to his senior year until he sustained a knee injury in the first game of the season which ended his football career. Cody also enjoyed wrestling in his junior high years. He made friends easily and was the social butterfly of his class; he was always willing to lend a hand when needed. Cody found his faith and comfort in God at Liberty Church and was a member of the church for the past five years. Cody was employed by South Mount Farms for the past two and half years and enjoyed his job and the sense of family he found there. On the evening of Tuesday, May 22nd, 2018 Nayland Douglas Rinker, 86, Gillett passed away quietly at Robert Packer Hospital.
Born January 7th, 1932 in Laureldale, Berks County, he was the son of Harold John Lincoln Rinker and Dorothy Graybill Rinker. Nayland was a graduate of Oley Valley High School and served our country in the United States Army attached to the 66th Armor Division. Throughout most of his working life Nayland was a truck driver for a construction firm. ![]() Weldon “Jake” Shaffer, 79, Canton, passed away at his home on May 22, 2018. It is impossible to summarize his life and his legacy in a few, short paragraphs. His was a life that impacted innumerable people, students and athletes during his 40 years of teaching and coaching at Canton Junior-Senior High School. Born in Williamsport, PA on February 4, 1939, Jake was a standout athlete, starring in football, baseball and track. He was scouted and pursued by the MLB as a left-handed power hitting catcher, won All-State honors in football in 1956, and set the former PA state record for the shot-put that stood until the mid-70’s. He played college football at North Carolina State University, starting on both the offensive and defensive lines for the Wolfpack. When Jake graduated from NC State in 1962, he won the hand of the love of his life, his wife of 56 years, Patricia (Sampson) and they moved to Canton to make a life together. LaVerne E. Chandler age 73 of Wellsboro, PA died Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro, PA. LaVerne was born on March 1, 1945 in Elmira, NY. He had been a crane operator during his employment.
LaVerne is survived by his daughter Christina Hand of Blossburg; six grandchildren John, Tyler, Rachel, Zach, Nick and Matthew. He was preceded in death by a daughter Cindy Jennings in 2014. Honoring LaVerne’s wishes there will be no services. Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 637 S. Main St. Mansfield, PA has been entrusted with the arrangements.
