Lyle was born in Canton, PA on December 11, 1944 to the late Liston and Gertrude Wright. Raised on the family dairy farm, Lyle and his siblings shared many fond memories while working hard to help their parents. In addition to helping out on the farm, Lyle participated in many activities in his youth. While a student at Canton High School, he enjoyed playing football, basketball, and baseball. He had an appreciation and talent for music. He played the coronet in the High School Band, and sang in county, district and state chorus. In addition, he was a member of the Bradford County 4-H Cattle Judging Team and Future Farmers of America. After graduating from Canton High School in 1962, he attended Penn State University where he studied agriculture.
Lyle B. Wright, age 75, entered into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on October 20th, 2020. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Lyle was a hard-working, kind and generous man. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and a true servant of God. His love for God was evident in both his words and his actions. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it, and offered encouraging words to those who needed to hear them.

Jaquith, 74, of Canton, passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2020 at his residence. Carl Raymond was born in Syracuse, NY on June 28, 1946 to the late Ivan Jaquith and Marguerite (Block) Swingle. He was employed by Canton Manufacturing for many years until his health no longer permitted him to work. Carl was a member of the Canton Moose Lodge 429 and the Canton VFW Post 714.
Carl was a kind hearted, giving individual with a contagious smile that lit up the room. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Carl was a true family man and wonderful father to his step children. Surviving Carl are his step-son; Randy Dietz of Buffalo, NY., sisters; Meg (Gary) Sullivan of Lansing, NY., Cathy (Mike) Wolf of Troy, and Sue (Ron) McKinney of Locke, NY., brothers; John Jaquith of Canton and Richard Jaquith of Little River, SC, a sister-in-law; Linda Jaquith of Moravia as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and his special canine friend, Lady. Besides his parents Carl was predeceased by His wife, Nancy in 1985, a brother; Edward Jaquith and sister-in-law; Sally Jaquith. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2020 from 11 A.M to Noon with a funeral service following at Noon at the Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, Inc., 578 Springbrook Drive, Canton. (Carr) Nelson went home to be with the Lord while convalescing at the Highlands in Laporte. She was 90 years of age. Born March 10th, 1930 in Woodhull, NY, she was the daughter of Robert L. and Gettie (Covert) Carr. She was the widow of the late Dr. Frederick Nelson of Wind Gap, Pa. Laura was a familiar face on the streets of Canton, with her subtle smile and soft-spoken demeanor. She was well known for her good fortune at the weekly BINGO games. She was devoted to her family as well as to her beloved New Life Church.
Laura is survived by her son, Don Beckhorn and sister Kimberly Crawford, both of Canton, her grandson Edward Carr and great-nephews Jon Crawford and Jared Crawford and step-parents Christopher (& Susie) Ott. as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her biological parents, Robert & Gettie Carr, her husband, Frederick Nelson and brother Lewellan Carr. Visitation was held from 10 to 11 AM Tuesday, October 13th, at Morse and Kleese Funeral Home, 94 N. Center Street, Canton, with service following at eleven. Interment was in Alba Cemetery. (morseandkleesefuneralhome.com) Ruby F. (Nichols) Hansell, 97, lifelong resident of Canton, PA., passed away at the Bradford County Manor on Thursday, October 15, 2020. Ruby Frances was born on August 16, 1923 in Rome, PA., a daughter of the late Edwin and Hazel (Platt) Nichols. In 1941 Ruby married the love of her life, William Reid Hansell. They shared 26 years of marriage and raised three children before William’s passing in 1967. Ruby was employed by the Canton Paper as a linotype operator for over forty years until her retirement. Ruby was an extremely social and personable woman. She enjoyed visits with her family and friends whenever possible. She took pleasure in knitting, crocheting and reading. In her earlier years playing cards with her friends was something she always looked forward too. Robert “Mitch” Belawske, 58, well-known resident of Canton, Pennsylvania, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, October 15, 2020 as the result of a tragic motor vehicle accident. Robert Mitchell was born on September 2, 1962 in Williamsport, a son of Wilma (Shepard) Belawske of Canton and the late Edward Belawske. Mitch attended Canton High School and was a graduate of the class of 1980. On August 19, 2008 he married his soul mate, Lisa Matson in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. He was a member of the Canton Moose Lodge 429 and the Morris Run American Legion Post 167. Mitch was a kind, caring and selfless individual. He would drop anything to lend a hand to those who needed help. He enjoyed hunting when he had the time. Mitch was a jack of all trades. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings football fan and loved watching all types of sports. Most importantly, Mitch was very dedicated to his family. He looked forward to playing and spending time with his grandchildren. Ruth (Sechrist) Machmer, 74, of Canton, PA., passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at her home while surrounded by her loving family. Ruth Ann was born in Roaring Branch on January 1, 1946 to the late Paul Sechrist and Harriet (Ogden) Sechrist Roupp. She attended Canton Area Schools and graduated with the class of 1963. On April 6, 1963, Ruth married the love of her life, John “Jake” Machmer in Grover, PA. Together they raised two children and shared fifty-seven blissful years of marriage. Ruth retired from Parker Hannifan where she worked for several years. Ruth was a kind, loving soul. She enjoyed any times spent with her family and friends, especially at their cabin in Canada. Sharel A. (Chamberlain) Crane, 79, well known resident of Troy, PA, passed away on Friday, October, 16, 2020 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA. Sharel Ann was born on June 4, 1941 in Troy, an only child to the late Floyd and Mary (Rathbun) Chamberlain. She was employed by paper magic (Eureka) and was manager at the Troy Vets club for several years. Most recently, Sharel worked at Tops Market in Troy for over 20 years until her retirement in 2018. Sharel was a woman of faith and was a long-time member of the East Troy United Methodist Church. Sharel was an extremely hard and dedicated worker. She was very well respected in the community and had a personality that everyone admired. She was the type of lady to lend a helping hand whenever and however she could to help those in need. Sharel enjoyed playing many different card games with her friends and family. Sharel’s main focus and importance in life was always her family. Her whole world encompassed around her grandchildren and great grandchildren which were her pride and joy. Clyde Thomas Seeley, well known Canton Township Resident, passed away Friday, October 16, 2020 at the Bradford County Manor. He was born April 23, 1934 at the family farm near Windfall to Clyde H and Mildred (Smith) Seeley. Clyde graduated from Troy High School in 1952, and later that year he enlisted in the United States Air Force. After proudly serving his country, he returned as a Korean War Veteran and purchased the family homestead from his parents. He spent his life until retirement developing a purebred registered Holstein herd and making improvements to the farm. The farm remains in the Seeley family as a Pennsylvania Century Farm. He was a Canton township supervisor for 12 years while farming. After retiring from farming he volunteered for the local literacy program. Dedicated to preserving the beauty of the area where he lived, Clyde used his 4-wheeler to pick up trash along the country roads near the family farm. He was a devoted reader and scholar of history. Jean Covert, 79, of Ralston, PA., passed away at her home on the evening of Wednesday, October 14, 2020. Jean Catherine was born December 30, 1940. She was a very generous, kind hearted lady. Jean enjoyed shopping just so she could buy gifts for others, even if there was no holiday or special occasion. She liked to see people happy and have what they wanted or needed. Jean loved to eat out at various restaurants whenever she had the chance. She took delight in any time spent with her family and in her earlier years she looked forward to cooking meals for the holidays. Delbert L. Brown, 83, of Windfall, PA passed away on Monday, October 12, 2020, at his residence with his loving family by his side.
Delbert Lewis was born January 26, 1937 in Leroy Township a son of the late Catherine Vivian (Duart) and John Sanford Brown. He attended Troy Area School and worked on the family dairy farm before enlisting in the U.S. Army. Shortly following his honorable discharge, on July 13, 1965 he married the love of his life, the former Lucille Giles. They raised their children and shared 52 wonderful years of marriage until Lucy’s passing on April 30, 2018. Delbert was employed by Kennedy Valve in Elmira, NY as a machinist for nearly 40 years, until retiring in 1999. He was a long- time member of the Windfall United Methodist Church and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union Local 1379. “Delly” as known by most, was a true outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting on his farm, fishing and camping with family and friends. Delly was a very talented woodworker, crafting a variety of items. He took great pleasure in maintaining his immaculate yard, gardens and canning what he harvested, especially tomatoes. Delbert loved his family and cherished any time he was able to spend with them. He looked forward to his grandchildren’s sporting events and was one of their biggest fans. |
