Born in Plymouth, PA on October 6, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Ann Gillispie Sims.
She was a member of the 1937 graduating class of Plymouth High School.
In the afternoon of December 31, 2014, Ruth Ann Celmer went to meet her Lord and Savior and complete the family circle at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA at the age of 95.

John “Jack” Spade, 82, of Blossburg, PA passed away December 31, 2014 at the Green Home in Wellsboro. Born July 12, 1932 in Danville, PA, John William, “Jack” to family and friends, was a son of the late Francis and Ruth (Ledger) Spade. After graduating from Danville High School in 1950, Jack served in the U.S. Army as Staff Sergeant during the Korean War. On May 19, 1953, he married the former Yvonne Reichard. He was a graduate of Pennsylvania Hospital School of Nursing, Geisinger School of Anesthesiology and was CRNA certified. Jack was employed by Blossburg State Hospital from 1960 to its closure in 1972. He then worked at Troy Community Hospital and Towanda Memorial Hospital until retiring in 1994. Jack was a member of Morris Run’s American Legion Post 167 and Troy’s American Legion Post 49 and V.F.W. Post 8675. He was a member of the former St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Blossburg. Jack was well known for his quick whit and wonderful sense of humor. He and Yvonne especially loved spending time in Myrtle Beach, SC. Robert Dean Earle, 86, of Troy, Pa., passed away on December 30, 2014 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, N.Y.
Robert was born on July 14, 1928, a son of the late Walter and Sara Mea (Carl) Earle. Richard L. “Dick” Janowsky, 75, of Ridgebury, PA, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, December 29, 2014 from his home surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Linda L. (Cragle) Janowsky. The couple married November 12, 1966 and had 48 wonderful years together. Dick was born on September 5, 1939 in Elmira, NY, son of the late Fritz W. and Grace I. (Wagner) Janowsky. Growing up on the family farm Dick always had a passion for the land and farming it. He was the first Co-Operative in Ridgebury Township to go into the Farm Program. With Dick’s love of the land, he went into the Real Estate business. He was a broker for Strout Realty for 21 years. In those 21 years, Dick was always in the top 25 offices for sales out of 700 offices. He ended his career with Strout to open his own business, Janowsky Realty. He helped many in northern Bradford County sell and buy homes and land until his retirement in 2011. Dick’s motto was always “Bringing People and Places Together”. Charles Rolison, 79, of Columbia Cross Roads, PA passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday,December 28, 2014. Charles Franklin, “Chuck” to family and friends, was born July 20, 1935 in Troy, a son of the late Earle and Nellie (Spencer) Rolison. A graduate of Troy High School, Chuck also graduated from Jean Summers Business School in Elmira before enlisting in the U.S. Army. On August 17, 1958, he married the former Arlene Isaacs in Canton. Chuck was controller/general manager and sales person for Lemoncelli Tire Co. before they combined with Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. He worked as a traveling manager for Firestone in the southern tier of New York State for many years. Following his retirement, Chuck worked out of his home as a self-employed accountant until the time of his death. He was a member of Columbia Cross Roads United Methodist Church and most recently attended Southside Alliance Church in Elmira, NY. Chuck was very civic minded and active in his community. Bennie Clifford Talada, 56, of Gillett, passed away, Dec. 27, 2014 at Robert Packer Hospital. Bennie was born on Jan. 2, 1958, a son of Fred and Barbara (Roberts) Talada. He was an avid fisherman and loved spending time outside gardening. Robert L. Hettich, 81, of Towanda, passed away Friday morning, Dec. 26, 2014 at his home. Robert was born in Sayre on Nov. 20, 1933, the son of Robert and Margaret Bevan Hettich. He was a graduate of Troy High School where he excelled academically and in basketball, football and baseball. Robert continued his education at Lafayette College where he played football having received a football scholarship. He was a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity. Robert later served in the U.S. Navy as a medic aboard the USS Forrestal. Following completion of his military service, Robert returned home and started his own business, Hettich Roofing & Siding which he operated for 47 years in Bradford County until his retirement. He also fully remodeled a number of homes. On Christmas morning of Thursday, December 25th, 2014, former Canton resident Joan Winifred (Parrish) Cole passed away at home, with her loving family at hand, following a courageous fourteen year battle with cancer. Joan was diagnosed with terminal brain and lung cancer in 2001. After given an initial prognosis of 3-6 months to live, she survived and thrived and gave back to her community in many ways.
Edna E. Swartwood Wittie passed away December 23, 2014. She was born on March 8, 1925 in Mountain Lake in Bradford County, PA.
She was the only child of Carlton Ward and Georgia Bernadeen (Dibble) Swartwood. Edna lived in Fairview in Bradford County until her father's death in 1934, at which time she and her mother moved to East Smithfield, PA on April 26, 1944. Edna was united in marriage with Leslie A. Wittie of Milan and they resided and raised their children on the family farm. During the early morning hours of Sunday, December 28th, 2014, Connie Jean (Wood) Delrie of Canton passed away quietly at her residence, surrounded by her beloved family, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was 52 years of age.
Born in Elmira, NY on July 12, 1962, she was the daughter of Phillip and the late Sally (Soper) Wood. Connie graduated Troy High School with the class of 1980 where she was in the top ten percent of her class, and was a member of the National Honor Society. She attended Corning Community College and was employed for many years as a legal secretary in Austin, Texas; Shreveport, Louisiana; and Troy. |
