Edna E. Swartwood Wittie passed away December 23, 2014. She was born on March 8, 1925 in Mountain Lake in Bradford County, PA.
She was the only child of Carlton Ward and Georgia Bernadeen (Dibble) Swartwood.
Edna lived in Fairview in Bradford County until her father's death in 1934, at which time she and her mother moved to East Smithfield, PA on April 26, 1944. Edna was united in marriage with Leslie A. Wittie of Milan and they resided and raised their children on the family farm.
She was the only child of Carlton Ward and Georgia Bernadeen (Dibble) Swartwood.

Mrs. Wittie was an avid reader preferring mysteries and auto biographies. She was a member of the Independent Baptist Church of Towanda. There she taught nursery class for 40 years. In East Smithfield, she was a member of the Good Neighbors Club, held office as a Board Member of the Bradford County Old Timer's Association, and was a former member of the WCTU.
She is predeceased by her husband of 49 years Leslie A. Wittie on March 1, 1993, a very special daughter Martha in 2003, father Carlton Ward Swartwood, mother Georgia Bernadeen Dibble Chilson, and stepfather Arthur Chilson in 1987.
She is survived by sons Bruce (Cheryl) Wittie, Burlington, PA and Walter (Susan) Wittie, Milan, PA, grandchildren Jackie (William) King, Gillett, PA, Michele (David) Russel, Spencer, NY, Jennifer Wittie, Sayre, PA, and Wesley Wittie, Wellsburg, NY, great-grandchildren Dalton Russell, Spencer, NY, and special cousin Stella Spenser, Luthers Mills, PA.
The funeral service was held at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA. December 27 with the Rev. Donn Hauser officiating.
Burial will be in Mountain Lake Cemetery, Burlington, PA at the convenience of the family.
