Joseph W. Yuscavage III, 53, of Williamsport, Pa., passed away very unexpectedly on Sunday, March 1, 2020 from injuries received in a tragic automobile accident.

Memories and condolences may be shared at www.pepperfuneralhomes.com Margaret “Peggy” Young entered eternal rest at her home in Troy, Pa. on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2019 at the age of 68.
Margaret Rose was born Mar. 20, 1950 in Sayre, Pa., a daughter of the late Paul and Alice (Homan) Bustin. She attended Athens Area High School where she was a graduate of the class of 1968. After high school she attended Misericordia University and Lock Haven University. Peggy was the manager of Widmann’s in Troy and Canton, Pa. until her kidney transplant and retirement in 1995. Following her kidney transplant, to promote organ donor awareness, Peggy then attended transplant games in Salt Lake City, Utah, Sydney, Australia, Orlando, Fla., and participated in Columbus, Ohio. On the morning of Dec. 19, 2018, Frederick Franklin Young, Jr. of Canton passed away quietly at Robert Packer Hospital. He was 70 years of age, and husband of the former Christine Ellis.
Born Sept. 2, 1948 in Sayre, he was the son of Frederick F. and Gladys Young, Sr. Fred was a kind, gentle soul who worked for many years as a caregiver for disabled adults. His smile could light up a room. He made friends easily and was always looking for ways to help others. Fred also had an unshakable faith in the Lord, and was a member of the Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ) in Canton. Richmond Bailey Young, 85, of Troy, formerly of Gordonville, PA, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at the Bradford County Manor. Born December 10, 1932 in Sayre, Richmond was a son of the late Russell and Lavella (Ross) Young. He was a 1950 graduate of Troy High School. On Feb. 18, 1950, he married his childhood sweetheart, the former Janice Teribury. They were blessed with 59 years together before her passing on May 11, 2009. Richmond was an active member of Lancaster’s Westgate Baptist Church and a previous member of Sayre Baptist Church. Galen C. Yoder, Age 63, of Route 6 Troy, passed away Friday evening at Robert Packer Hospital.
Galen was born April 28, 1954 in Sellersville, PA son of Clyde Yoder and the late Lydia (Detweiler) Yoder. He was a graduate of Christopher Dock High School. On November 1, 1975 he and the former Deborah J. Moyer were married and celebrated 42 years together. Galen was employed by MASCO Electrical as an Industrial Electrician. For the past several years he and Deb have operated their Beef Farm on Route 6 in Troy working together and along with their late loving daughter Charrissa L. Yoder. Doris Elaine Hanger Young, 91, passed away on January 31, 2018 in Naples, FL. She was born December 15, 1926 to Robert Luther Hanger and Hannah Grace Jones Hanger in Elkins, WV. Doris had one sister Betty McGrane of Colorado Springs, CO.
She was the loving wife of Dr. Jerome Kenneth (Jake, now deceased) formerly of Canton and Naples, FL. They met in Doris’s hometown of Elkins, WV where Jake was stationed as a cadet flight officer during WWII. Doris said that Jake, who was a terrific jitterbugger, literally danced his way into her heart. They corresponded throughout WWII while Jake was stationed in England as a bomber pilot, and Doris worked as head secretary to the Vice President of Purchasing at Glenn L. Martin. Shirley Young, 90, Troy, formerly of East Smithfield, died October 19, 2017 at Bradford County Manor, Burlington Twp.
Shirley was born January 19, 1927 in Elmira, NY, a daughter of Rex and Mary Ellen (Smith) Garrison. She was the widow of Charles Young who passed away in 2009. Shirley worked at American Silk Label as a weaver before her retirement, and was known for her pranks and rooster tape she played each day at the end of her shift. She was a member of the Wetona Methodist church, enjoyed doing needlework, sewing, camping, and bird watching Shirley is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and JaNell Young of Burlington; a daughter, Bonnie Avery of Troy; eight grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; two sisters, Marilyn (Merle) Welch of Troy and Carroll Passeri of Homosassa, FL. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Dale Young in 2006, and a son-in-law, Jack Avery in 2016. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at Wetona Cemetery. Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., Mansfield, PA is assisting the family. www.buckheitfcandcrematory.com Marjorie Yeager, 86, of Slocum Twp., entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 15th, 2016, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Med Center. Born and raised in Canton, Pa she was a daughter of the late Elwin and Grace ( McKee ) Porter. Marjorie was a graduate of the Canton High School and a 1952 Graduate of Mansfield State Teaching College. She started her teaching career in the Bristol and Levittown, Pa area, and then worked for various school districts in the Wilkes-Barre area. She concluded her teaching career with many years in the Crestwood School District teaching the Remedial Reading Program. Marjorie was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Pond Hill, where she taught Sunday school and also served in various roles within the church. She loved cooking, gardening, the outdoors, High School sports, traveling, going for walks, and her pets. Wanda L. (Watkins) Yanchuk, 85, of Troy, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at the Bradford County Manor surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of Bernard A. “Bernie” Yanchuk. The couple married April 30, 1952 and had almost 63 happy years together. Wanda was born on July 29, 1929 in Columbia Cross Roads, PA, daughter of the late Edgar and Anna (Trask) Watkins. She was a Troy High School graduate, Class of 1947. After high school, Wanda went to work for the Troy Area School District as secretary for Prof. W.R. Croman, namesake to our local elementary school. Wanda and Bernie spent two years in Georgia while he was serving his country in the US Army during the Korean War. She was Christian by faith. After returning home to Troy, Wanda enjoyed flowers and gardening, crocheting, and spending time with her family. Donald B. York, 96, Troy, went home to be with the Lord on April 1, 2015.
He was born on July 6, 1918, in Geneva, NY, the son of the late Galusha and Tressie York. He attended grade school in Elk Run, Tioga County, PA, and High School in Geneva, NY. He was a member of the Columbia Cross Roads United Methodist Church. In earlier years, he was a member of the Sylvania Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Trustee. He was a former member of the Sylvania Lions Club, where he served as a director. |
