She was the loving wife of Dr. Jerome Kenneth (Jake, now deceased) formerly of Canton and Naples, FL. They met in Doris’s hometown of Elkins, WV where Jake was stationed as a cadet flight officer during WWII. Doris said that Jake, who was a terrific jitterbugger, literally danced his way into her heart. They corresponded throughout WWII while Jake was stationed in England as a bomber pilot, and Doris worked as head secretary to the Vice President of Purchasing at Glenn L. Martin.
Doris is survived by three grandchildren, Holly Beeson of Huntersville, NC; Lainie Kitzmiller of Tucson, AZ; and Zach Young of Camptown, PA. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Jake and Amelia Kitzmiller of Tucson, AZ; a sister-in-law Marilyn Young of Camptown, PA; a sister-in-law Pat Goodwin and brother-in-law John Goodwin of Elmira, NY. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Upon retiring in 1983, Doris and Jake traveled around the United States in their motor home finding Naples, FL where they permanently moved in 1987.
Doris will be remembered as a ray of sunshine with a kind and generous heart whose mission in life was to bring beauty, peace, and joy.
