SFC Byron May, 49, of Dunnellon, Florida and former long-time Canton Pennsylvania resident, passed away unexpectedly on Monday Apr. 29, 2019 at his home in Florida.
   Byron Eugene was born on Oct. 6, 1969 in Towanda, Pa. He was a son the late Bradley Eugene May and his wife Sharon and the late Rose Marie (Holloway) Sentyz and her husband, Charlie.
   Byron was a graduate of Canton High School, class of 1988.  Shortly following graduation, he enlisted in the National Guard.  He would continue his service with the U.S. Army being a proud decorated veteran, serving our country overseas for multiple tours.
​   In earlier years, Byron enjoyed working outside with his hands and was employed by area dairy farms learning about life and a strong work ethic. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved shooting and hunting.

  Frances P. Kobbe, 97, of Canton, Pa. was called home to her Lord and Savior on Saturday afternoon, Apr. 27, 2019 while surrounded by her loving family at the Bradford County Manor.
 Frances Pauline, “Franny” to family and friends, was born May 18, 1921 in her parent’s home near Windfall, Pa.  She was one of five children born to the late Paul Stanley and Irene Delight (Watts) Dreste.
   Franny graduated from Canton High School with the class of 1938.
   Following graduation, she was employed as a housekeeper and later a waitress in a prestigious restaurant in Elmira, N.Y., “where she learned to set a table properly”.
   During WWII, Francis was employed by Eclipse Machine in Elmira. It was on June 17, 1944 she married the love of her life, Wilmer “Ben” Edward Kobbe in the Hedding Methodist Church Parsonage also in Elmira. Together they shared 46 years and raised six children before his passing in 1990.
Franny was also employed by; Remington Rand in Elmira, a nurse’s aide for 14 years at the Bradford County Manor and Paper Magic in Troy until retirement.

   Franklin James Morgan, age 86, born in Mansfield, Pa., to Ada May O’Melion and Franklin James Morgan, passed away on April 26, 2019, at Tidewell Hospice House, Venice, FL. He spent the first seven years of his life growing up in Michigan, Ohio, and West Virginia.  Frank had many memories living with his mother in Belle, W. Va., and his grandmother, Carrie G. O’Melion (Mosher) (Poland) and grandfather Peter “Papa” O’Melion (Poland) in rural Yawkey, W. Va. Frank and his mother moved to Troy, Pa., in 1942.  Frank’s mother married Leon E. Brown, and Frank worked on Leon’s farm while providing his neighbors a helping hand at 10-15 cents an hour.  Frank had fond memories of his step-sister Dorothy Cooke.  Frank graduated from high school in Troy, Pa., and entered the USAF as a draftsman in 1951 during the Korean War.  Frank’s four years of service included; basic training at Sampson Air Force Base in Seneca Lake, N.Y., Advanced Engineering Training at Ft. Belvoir, Va., and three years stationed at RAF Burtonwood in Warrington, England.  Frank transferred to Strategic Air Command in Mountain Home, ID, where he finished his military service.
   Frank married Audrey Jean Merritt at Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ) on Oct. 15, 1955, in Canton, Pa..  The couple initially lived in Elmira Heights, NY where Frank worked as a draftsman for Westinghouse, then as a draftsman at American LaFrance, clerked at a drugstore, and attended night school working towards an engineering degree.  After the birth of their first child, Deborah, in 1957, the couple moved to Elmira, N.Y.  In 1960, the family moved to Embarrass, Wis., and Frank began working at FWD Corporation as a truck designer.  The family grew with the addition of Trent in 1960 and Kimberly in 1961.  In 1962 the family moved back to Lowman, N.Y., where Frank once again worked for American LaFrance and in 1963 welcomed Timothy to the family.  In the spring of 1964, the family moved back to Clintonville, Wis., and Frank returned to work for FWD until 1971.  Frank went into business with John Dando and began the Clintonville Fire Apparatus Company in 1971.  In 1976, Frank returned to work for FWD until his retirement in 1996.  He continued to consult for FWD until 1997.  In 1997, Audrey, Frank’s wife of 42 years, passed away after a battle with a brain aneurysm and ALS.  In 2002, Frank enjoyed living out his retirement years in Venice, Fla., with his new companion, best friend, and former high school classmate, Sally R. Shaw.  Sally was by his side when he passed.

   Linda Lee (Heib) Manley, 72, of Gillett, Pa. passed away on Friday, Apr. 26, 2019 at her home. She was the loving wife of Thomas P. Manley. The couple married June 28, 1969 and had 49 happy years together. Linda was born on Mar. 8, 1947 in Elmira, N.Y., daughter of the late LeRoy D. Heib and Betty (Congdon) Heib Holton. She was a 1965 graduate of Troy High School and went on to get a business degree at Elmira Business Institute. Linda enjoyed woodworking and crafts, gardening and tending to her flowers, and liked watching birds, especially humming birds.
​   Linda is survived by her husband Tom, her children; Stephen Manley and Jennifer (Brian) Chamberlain, both of Gillett. Her grandchildren: Bethany Manley, Rachael Manley, Courtney Chamberlain, Brandon Manley, Aaron Manley, and Sarah Chamberlain, her great granddaughter Sailor Frey, her sisters Jan Van Gorden of Horseheads, N.Y. and Mary (Don) Gorst of Elmira, N.Y., her step brothers Brett (Lori) Holton of Elmira and Kevin (Diana) Holton of Armenia Mountain, Pa., along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her step father Tim Holton.

  Chenango Forks, N.Y. and Tampa, Fla. - Beverly A. Seiber (born June 27, 1936). Our beloved mother was taken to Heaven on Saturday, Apr. 20, 2019. Beverly is survived by her two children, David E. Seiber, and Kimberley A. Hayes, three grandchildren, Danielle (Eric Janowsky, Ashley (Jason) Motell, and Cody (Samantha Seiber, five great-grandchildren, Clara Janowsky, Tristyn Motell, Lochlan Motell, Nora Janowsky, and Archer Motell, several nieces and nephews, and her sister and mother in law, Charlotte and Harold Carter of Rome, Pa. She was predeceased by her parents, Earl and Margaret Brenchley, husband Robert L. Seiber, and sister, Barbara E. Gurney.
​   Beverly retired as a para-educator from Hillsborough County School System in Tampa, Fla., with 26 years of faithful service. Before her move to Florida in 1978, Beverly worked in Chenango Forks School District for six years, and enjoyed her time there very much.

 Dorothy (Silsdorf) DeWalt, 83, of Troy, Pa., passed away Saturday, Apr. 20, 2019, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pa.     
​   Born Mar. 22, 1936 in Bowers, Pa., Dorothy Ruth was the daughter of the late Frederick and Beulah (DeLong) Silsdorf. She was a graduate of Kutztown High School and Allentown School of Nursing where she received her Registered Nursing Degree. She was employed by Allentown General Hospital as a maternity nurse, St. Luke’s in Bethlehem, Pa. and in later years was a supervisor at the Bradford County Manor until her retirement. Dorothy was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Towanda, Pa. She enjoyed Nascar racing, blue grass music, puzzles, camping and her special canine friend Mindy. Dorothy was a hard worker and worked beside her husband for many years on their farm. She also was dedicated to her nursing career and took it to heart.  She was a “true nurse”, kind, caring, and selfless. Her generosity will always be remembered by many.

  Angel Beau Willet Ellsworth, newborn, passed away on Friday, Apr. 19, 2019 from the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pa.
