Dorothy Lorraine, “Dot” to family and friends, was born April 30, 1926 in Orange NJ, a daughter of the late Clarence S. and Minerva (DeHart) Genung. Dot grew up and lived in Millburn, NJ and Springfield NJ. On July 19, 1952, she married Edgar Duane Pelton and together they shared 50 years of loving marriage until Duane’s passing on March 18, 2002. In earlier years, Dot was employed by New Jersey Bell Telephone and later as a cashier for the Stop & Shop Supermarket. Throughout life Dorothy’s main interest was the love she shared in her home and with family.

John Edward was born August 8, 1944, in Williamsport, a son of the late John L. and Jane (Eyer) Liddic. He was a graduate of Williamsport High School. John enjoyed his career as a machinist; first with the former Schrader-Bellows Co. in Canton and later for Textron Lycoming until retirement. On June 28, 1985, he married the former Bartha deBruin in the Grover Church of Christ. John was a devoted family man who cherished his children and grandchildren. He will always be remembered for his amazing, heart-felt insights; if he had something to say, it was worth listening to. John also was blessed with a great sense of humor. His hobbies included many outdoor activities; hunting in the earlier years and later lots of fishing and camping. He enjoyed fishing tournaments in the NY Finger Lakes area and camping, especially at Clute Park near Watkins Glen where he made many friends. John was a member of the Grover Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ. In addition to Bartha, his beloved wife of 33 years, surviving are two daughters, Evonne Wilcox of Bradford County Manor and Natalie (Tim) Salsman of Laceyville; grandchildren, Samantha, Trena and Macey; two brothers-in-law, several sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends; also his faithful companion, "Brit-Brit" his dog. ![]() Clifford D. Fleming, 78, of Route 514, Granville Summit passed away Monday, August 20, 2018 at the Robert Packer Hospital. Cliff was born May 30, 1940 in Sayre son of the late Lawrence and Beatrice (Dexter) Fleming. He was a graduate of Troy High School Class of 1958. Following his graduation from high school he joined his family on the farm and operated his dairy farm alongside his brother Elwin until his retirement. Farming was Cliff’s life and even during major setbacks including his barn burning and taking a major portion of his cows he forged ahead and rented other local barns to continue his dairy operation. He enjoyed retirement, family gatherings and meeting with his coffee club friends at Moose’s and at the Dandy Beatrice Jean Warner Zyga, 80, of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, formerly of Troy and Sayre, passed peacefully at home on Sunday, August 19, 2018, while in Hospice care with her husband and daughter nearby.
Jean leaves behind her college sweetheart and loving husband of 59 years, Alfred M. Zyga, of the home. She is survived by her daughter, Jeanne Jo (Zyga) Ball, Salisbury, NC, and son-in-law Gregory P. Ball; and her adored grandson and "only boy", Marshall V. Ball ( Appalachian State University, Boone, NC); her only sister, Dorothy (Warner Shook) Murray (Towanda); special niece, Alana (Warner) Dewey and husband Walt (Troy); special nephew, Gary Warner and wife Lenora "Nori" (Haflett) ( East Smithfield), and several other dear great nieces and nephews from that area. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Harold J. Foster, late, of Smithfield Twp. will be held on Sunday, Aug. 19, 2018 at 1 P.M. at the LOOM, 439 Waverly St in Waverly, NY.
Visitation will take place from 1 – 2:30 P.M. Rev. Garry Zuber and Rev. Dan Walker will officiate the service starting at 2:30. He was a permanent fixture at the Mobil Station in Troy for many years, where he fulfilled his role of town "mayor" giving his customers a smile and a laugh with their full tank of gas before sending them on their way. He honorably served his country during the Korean War, loved to roller skate when he was younger, and in his retirement he spent most of his time outdoors gardening. ![]() William A. “Bill” Frederick, 67, of Canton, passed away, on Thursday evening, August 16, 2018 from the Guthrie Troy Community Hospital. William Arthur was born August 7, 1951 in Blossburg, Tioga County. He was a son of the late Arthur and Zelda (Luckey) Frederick. In earlier years, Bill enjoyed working for several local area dairy farms. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed to hunt and fish. Other hobbies included; High School Area Football, Professional Wrestling and Nascar’s Dale Earnhardt Sr. & Jr. Bill was an honest man, known to be a little stubborn at times. He possessed a great sense of humor and always liked being the instigator of a good joke. Bill was very passionate about his family and especially loved his grandchildren. Janet M. Bittner, 77, Trout Run, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
She was born Sept. 29, 1940, in Williamsport a daughter of Harold and Clara Hackling Houseknecht. Janet was a 1958 graduate of Montoursville High School, and owned and operated Bittner’s General Store in Trout Run. She was a member of the Eastern Star, the Mountain Laurel Decorative Painters and the Trout Run United Methodist Church. She enjoyed family, traveling, painting, her home in Florida, and loved gardening, flowers and birds. In addition to her parents, she was predecesed by her husband of 51 years, George E. Bittner; and brothers, Harold, Alvin and Chester Houseknecht. On the afternoon of Tuesday, August 14th, 2018, Reuben W. Barrett, Jr., of Troy Township passed away unexpectedly while harvesting timber. He was 78 years of age.
Born March 2nd, 1940 in Troy he was the son of Reuben W Barrett, Sr., and Myrtle V. (Perry) Barrett. Reuben was a man accustomed to hard work, and over the years he had worked for PennDOT, General Electric, the Leona Meat plant and for Bradford County as the caretaker of Sunfish Pond Park. But his profession of choice was logging. He enjoyed the feeling of independence that one feels when working close to nature. In his free time he enjoyed hunting, camping and wood working. Judith B. “Judy” Linehan, 76, Canton, PA (formerly of the Shunk, PA area) passed away, Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at the Bradford County Manor.
Judith Baker Pleasants, “Judy” to family and friends, was born June 16, 1942 in Boston, MA. She was a daughter of the late Pemberton and Betty (Wiggin) Pleasants. Judy was of a free spirit. She enjoyed life which she lived on her own terms. Surviving is her children, Charles (Margaret) Linehan and Scott (Thyra) Linehan all of Florida; six grandchildren and a dear friend, Tami Trostle, Shunk. She was predeceased by a special friend, Christopher Long. In keeping with Judith’s wishes services will be private. Burial will be held in Elkland Friends Cemetery at a later date.
