Born in Elmira, NY on July 12, 1962, she was the daughter of Phillip and the late Sally (Soper) Wood.
Connie graduated Troy High School with the class of 1980 where she was in the top ten percent of her class, and was a member of the National Honor Society. She attended Corning Community College and was employed for many years as a legal secretary in Austin, Texas; Shreveport, Louisiana; and Troy.
Connie was very artistic and enjoyed sketching, photography and needlepoint. She loved children, and children were drawn to her. She loved to cook and bake, and always enjoyed a good rock concert at the Binghamton Arena. She was a loving daughter, sister and aunt. Connie was also a woman of great courage.
She refused to be defined by her illness, and faced it head on. She never complained about the physical pain, nor the discomforting after effects of her treatments. Connie was an example of courage. She found strength to live as normal a life as possible in the face of her adverse condition.
She is survived by her father, Phillip Wood, at home, brother Phillip David Wood of Williamsport, sisters Marcella Matthews of Canton and Cindy Lou (& David) Whiting of Stuart Fla., niece Stacy Shue of St. Louis, Mo., and special friend of the family Bob Parker of Canton.
She was preceded in death by her mother Sally Wood.
The funeral was held on January 2, at Morse & Kleese Funeral Home, Canton.
Those wishing to honor Connie’s memory may do so by directing memorial contributions to Guthrie Hospice, 421 Tomahawk Road, Towanda, Pa., 18848.
