Janice was born on March 2, 1920 in East Troy, PA, daughter of the late Luther and Leota (Baxter) Van Horn. She was a 1937 graduate of Troy High School and for many years was the secretary for both Wrisley Excavating and Wrisley Construction. Janice was a member of the West Burlington United Methodist Church, the church’s Methodist Women’s group, and enjoyed knitting and homemaking.
Janice (Van Horn) Wrisley, 95, West Burlington, PA, passed away at her home, May 16, 2015. She was the loving wife of the late E.J. Wrisley who passed away October 8, 1974. The couple married April 20, 1941 and had 33 happy years together.

Pidcoe, 86, of Williamsport died on Friday May 15, 2015 at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
She was born on December 29, 1928 in Masten, PA and was the daughter of Leslie and Bessie Snyder Turner Sarah was a 1947 graduate of Canton High School and retired from GTE Sylvania in Montoursville in 1989. She was a member and past secretary of LeRoy O. Buck VFW Post 7863 Auxiliary, Wheel Inn and South Williamsport United Methodist Church. Eloise Bagley, 91, Canton, PA peacefully passed away on May 14, 2015 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA Harriet Eloise Thomas Bagley was born October 12, 1923 in Leolyn, PA, a daughter of the late Bion and Mae (Griffin) Thomas. Eloise graduated from Canton High School, class of 1941. She attended North Union Church in Canton and was an avid bowler at Canton, Mansfield and Terrace Lanes in Troy. Eloise enjoyed time shared with her family, bird watching, working outdoors, hunting and fishing. Throughout her life, she worked beside her husband Carlyle in all of his endeavors. Dale L. Smith, 63 of Troy, passed away at home on Wednesday, May 6, 2015.
Dale was born March 13, 1952 in Troy son of the late Erle and Gladys (Kring) Smith. He was a graduate of Troy High School and moved to the Washington, DC area after graduating from diesel mechanics school in Williamsport. While there he became a United States Park Police Officer, a job that he loved. He later moved back to the Troy area and was involved in the care of his mother for many years. Mary Frances Vaughan, 83, passed away on May 5, 2015 at her residence in Alexandria, Va.
Mary, who was called "Sis" by her family and many of her friends, was born in Canton, Pa., the daughter of John and Winifred Deemy. She was a graduate of Troy Pennsylvania High School and The Pennsylvania State University. In 1954 she wed her high school sweetheart Evan "Jim" Vaughan, now Captain USN (ret.), to whom she was married for 60 years. In addition to her husband she is survived by her children, Valerie (Jon) Monschein, Elaine (Walter) DeLap and James (Eleanor) Vaughan. Her son Andrew predeceased her. She also leaves behind her sister Ruth Deemy, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. Leon “Tilly” Tillotson, 95, of Union Township, Roaring Branch, PA peacefully passed away while surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, May 5, 2015. Leon Claude Tillotson was born in Canton, on November 4, 1919. He was one of nine children of the late Paul and Maude Tillotson. His wife is the former Vivian Woodard. Tilly possessed a strong work ethic all his life. He enjoyed being a self-employed logger for many years and later worked in the coal mining business for Jones & Brague Mining Co. Special times to Tilly were shared with his family and friends, especially many summertime picnics. Ronald Carey, 79, Canton, PA passed away unexpectedly early Sunday, May 3, 2015, at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre. Ronald Archie Carey was born on May 24, 1935 in Blossburg, PA, a son of the late Archie Carey, Marjorie (Jackson) Carey Gardener and stepfather, Wayne Gardener. After attending Canton’s Ogdensburg School, Ron served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed his life-long career as a logger and subcontracted with several area lumber companies before retiring in 2007. He married the former Carol Ann Lathrop on May 14, 1988. Miles Rodney Pratt, 84, East Canton passed away, April 17, 2015.
A celebration of Miles’ life will take place 2 o’clock pm, Saturday, May 2, at Windfall United Methodist Church. Professional services have been entrusted to Morse & Kleese Funeral Home, Canton. Owen Arthur Clark, 87, Troy, PA, passed away quietly at his home on Friday, May 1, 2015. Married November 22, 1950 to Marie (Card) Clark, he was the loving husband, father, and grandfather for 64 years. Owen was born May 8, 1927 in Philadelphia, PA, son of the late William A. and Leona F. (Owen) Clark. He served his country in the US Navy and went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree in Education and Physics from Penn State University and his Master’s degree from Brown University. Owen was the Troy High School Mathematics teacher from 1956-1966, and then Professor of Mathematics at Mansfield University from the fall of 1966 till his retirement in 1990. He was head of the Mathematics Department for several years and was also involved in the university math club. Owen was a member of the Sylvania Presbyterian Church, the church’s choir, and served on the Presbyterian Session. |
