Harriet Eloise Thomas Bagley was born October 12, 1923 in Leolyn, PA, a daughter of the late Bion and Mae (Griffin) Thomas. Eloise graduated from Canton High School, class of 1941.
She attended North Union Church in Canton and was an avid bowler at Canton, Mansfield and Terrace Lanes in Troy. Eloise enjoyed time shared with her family, bird watching, working outdoors, hunting and fishing. Throughout her life, she worked beside her husband Carlyle in all of his endeavors.
She worked in a sawmill, was a truck driver, drove taxi and worked in a bakery in Alaska, worked at Canton’s Swayze’s Folding Box Co. and worked many years in the veal farm industry. Eloise also enjoyed delivering meals on wheels well into her 70’s.
Surviving are children, Sharon Bagley Brutzman, Towanda, George (Char) Bagley, Bellevue, WA, Carlyle Bagley, Jr., Wyalusing and Roy Bagley, Canton; granddaughters, Nicole (Thomas) Wilson, Tioga, Bonnie (Thomas) Calkins, Troy, Cassandra (David) Hoover, Bloomsburg, Carolyn (Brian) Benninger, Troy, Mikal (Stephen) Bencze, Philadelphia, Gwen Bagley (Zackary) Taylor, Canton and Allison Bagley, Bellevue,WA; sister, Esther Marie Ohm, Canton. Eloise was very proud of her 15 great-grandchildren and 14 great great-grandchildren. Also surviving are many loving nieces and nephews. She also leaves her devoted feline companion, "Socks."
She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Carlyle Bagley; daughter, Beverly Bagley Ridall; son-in-law, Michael Brutzman; brothers, infant Clinton and Robert Thomas.
The funeral service was held on May 20 at the Pepper Funeral Home, Canton, with Rev. Duane Taylor officiating A private burial followed in Grover Cemetery.
