He was the loving husband of Mary Ellen (Gerould) Chamberlain. The couple married September 30, 1951 and had 63 happy years together.
Zane was born on July 27, 1932 in Big Pond, son of the late John and Doris (Leonard) Chamberlain. He was a 1950 graduate of SRU and was a US Army veteran, serving his country in the Korean War. He worked for Westinghouse for 22 years, the last 12 of those years he was the General Manager of the Westinghouse Transport Fleet in Pittsburgh, PA, and the next 12 years he was General Manager of the Combustion Engineering Fleet in Windsor, CT. After leaving Combustion Engineering, Zane and Mary Ellen became owner/operators of Tom Jack’s Trading in East Smithfield, and later were joined by friends Mike and Marge Jenkins.
Zane was a member of East Smithfield Federated Church, the American Legion, and was past Commander of VFW Post 7378, and served as Smithfield Township Supervisor from 2002-2009. Zane loved God, his family, his country, and horses.
Surviving is his wife of 63 years Mary Ellen; daughter Lt. Col. Crystal Chambers USMC retired and her husband Jay, Carlsbad, CA, and son Tad L. Chamberlain who is Manager of Systems Analysis for United Health Care along with his wife Vicki of Granby, CT; grandchildren: Adam (Tanya) Nans, Lena (Kyle) Kendall, and Jason Chamberlain; brother Lynn (Doris) Chamberlain, Bentley Creek and his nephews Neal and Mark Chamberlain and their families. Zane was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service for Zane B. Chamberlain is being planned for a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. Troy.
