Born September 29, 1930 on her family’s farm in Windfall, she was the eldest child, and only daughter, of Oscar Kenneth and Stella (Campbell) Ayres.
Growing up with only brothers to play with resulted in her proficiency in the game of baseball, and encouraged her to strive harder and go the extra mile. She was well acquainted with the more rigorous chores of farm life as she milked cows and drove tractors with the best of them. In her young adulthood Ginny waited tables at various restaurants in Canton and Troy. At one such place she met Lyle Vermilya, the man with whom she would share her life and raise her family. Later, she worked at the former Swayze Folding Box Company for several years.
Ginny’s primary focus was on her family. She took pride in the achievements of her sons and grandchildren, especially their sports events, which she attended faithfully. Her relationship with Jesus was of paramount importance, and she put her faith and trust in Him always.
She is survived by her sons Lyle Gene (& Terry) Vermilya of Troy, Dennis Vermilya of Canton, Roger (& Donna) Vermilya of Roaring Branch, Russell (& Sheryl) Vermilya of Windfall and Daryl Vermilya (& Dave Carson) of Canton, brothers Lloyd (& Phyllis) Ayres , Earl Ayres, Marsdon (& Shirley) Ayres, all of Canton, and Gary (& Donna) Ayres of Granville Summit, sister-in-law Mary Vermilya of Bloomsburg, seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, feline companions Jeb and Jasper, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle, and brother Marvin Ayres.
