Dean was a man who possessed a strong work ethic and always knew how to provide for his family. Throughout his adult life he worked as a farmer, a logger, a truck driver, and for a brief 9 year stretch, worked as a railroad track man along the Elmira division of the Pennsylvania RR until the flood of 1972 put the line out of commission once and for all.
Dean was a man with an insurmountable faith in the Lord, and was an active member of God’s Missionary Church in New Columbia. He lived his faith on a daily basis, and when the Lord took his hand Friday evening, Dean followed.
He is survived by his wife of seventy years, Marcella, at home, sons Stanley (Connie) Buck of Covington and Kevin (Pauline) Buck of Temple, PA, daughters Hope (& Jake) Fries of Laceyville. Penny Kilmer and Kathy (& Bill) Page, brother-in-law Dave Matthews, Jr., all of Canton, sister-in-law Eloise Caseman of Shunk, 12 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers Herman, Elson and Mark Buck, and sisters Leona Wilcox, Beulah Messener and Shirley Matthews.
In accordance with Dean’s wishes there will be no public calling hours or services. His family will hold a private service at Morse & Kleese Funeral Home, followed by interment in East canton Cemetery. The family suggests that contributions in Dean’s memory be directed to God’s Missionary Church, 852 Ridge Road, New Columbia, PA, 17856.
