Over the years she worked at Bradford County Manor, the former Maple Lane Boarding Home in East Smithfield and the original Sherwood Personal Care Home in LeRoy. She cared for foster children, as well as family members who were in need. Shirley had operated a used clothing store in Canton for several years, often giving away clothing to families who had been burned out of their homes, a practice which she continued even after closing her shop. Her kindness touched the lives of many people in our area.
Shirley is survived by her sons, Fred Campbell (& Margie L. Searles) of Alpine, NY, Earl (& Bettina) Campbell of Mountain Lake, Robert E. Campbell (& Michael DeWalt) of Allenwood, Gordy (& Rose) Campbell of Troy, daughters Galva (& Chuck) Losey of Troy, Sharon Groover of Granville Summit, Theresa (& Robert) Benjamin of LeRoy, brothers William Buckley of Granville Summit and Robert Buckley of Wyalusing, sisters Annabelle Shedden of Owego, NY, Betty Swisher of Clearwater, FL., as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Elsie, her husband, Gordon Campbell, Sr., and brother James Buckley, Jr.
In accordance with Shirley’s wishes there are no calling hours, and there will be no public services. Interment will be in East Canton Cemetery. (morseandkleesefuneralhome.com
