Sharlene Ann was born July 24, 1935 at her family’s farm in West Burlington Twp., a daughter of the late Alfred and Gertrude (Coons) Van Noy. She attended Troy Area Schools and in 1951, married and began raising a family.
She had worked various jobs in the Troy and Canton areas over the years, which included waitressing at Troy Edgewood’s, working at American Silk, Canton Manufacturing and the Artistic Card Company. She also performed household and childcare duties for various families throughout the area.
She was an excellent seamstress; sewing and mending clothes for everyone who knew of her talents. But above all, Sharlene’s main focus throughout her life was always her family. She prided herself in her homemaking abilities, especially cooking, cleaning, sewing and gardening.
Sharon was a tireless worker who put other’s needs above her own. Sharlene enjoyed first and foremost quilting, sewing, and spending time with her family, which included cheering her sons and grandsons on at tractor pulling events. She also loved playing cards and board games like Scrabble and Aggravation. In her earlier years, she had enjoyed bowling in a women’s league.
