Sharlene A. Colton, 82, a long-time resident of Granville Summit, PA passed away peacefully at home with her loving family by her side on Friday, January 5, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Sharlene Ann was born July 24, 1935 at her family’s farm in West Burlington Twp., a daughter of the late Alfred and Gertrude (Coons) Van Noy.  She attended Troy Area Schools and in 1951, married and began raising a family.
She had worked various jobs in the Troy and Canton areas over the years, which included waitressing at Troy Edgewood’s, working at American Silk, Canton Manufacturing and the Artistic Card Company. She also performed household and childcare duties for various families throughout the area.
She was an excellent seamstress; sewing and mending clothes for everyone who knew of her talents.  But above all, Sharlene’s main focus throughout her life was always her family.  She prided herself in her homemaking abilities, especially cooking, cleaning, sewing and gardening.
Sharon was a tireless worker who put other’s needs above her own.  Sharlene enjoyed first and foremost quilting, sewing, and spending time with her family, which included cheering her sons and grandsons on at tractor pulling events.  She also loved playing cards and board games like Scrabble and Aggravation.  In her earlier years, she had enjoyed bowling in a women’s league.

Sharlene was a member of Granville Center’s Church of Christ, the quilting club Loose Threads and Canton’s Women of the Moose Lodge 981.
Surviving are five children, Michael (Darialee) Colton, Shinglehouse, David (Bonnie) Colton and Samuel (Renee) Colton all of Granville, Cathy (Skip) Martin, Mansfield and Angie (Steven) Slotter, Selinsgrove; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; sister; Doris Crawford, Sugar Run, two sisters-in-law; Roxann (Richard) Margeson, Horseheads, NY and Joann Colton, Wellsboro; three brothers-in-law; Mac (Nancy) Colton, Bridgeport, WV, Daniel (Debbie) Colton, Roaring Branch, James (Brenda) Colton, Granville, close friend; Marcia Martin, Granville, several nieces, nephews, cousins, step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
Sharlene was predeceased  brothers; Kenneth (Gladys) Van Noy and Carlyle (Eloise) Van Noy; her children’s father, Samuel Colton; parents-in-law; Wilbur and Carmella Colton and brothers-in-law; Niles Colton and Lloyd Crawford.
A memorial service was held at the Granville Center Church of Christ, Tuesday, Jan. 9, with Pastor Lee Modlin officiating.      Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery when weather permits.
Sharlene would have appreciated memorials in her name given to the Church of Christ, c/o  19321 RT. 414 Monroeton, PA 18832.  Share condolences at   www.pepperfuneralhomes.com
Arrangements were handled by the Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, Canton.
