He was born on May 5, 1949 in Canton, PA a son of the late Raymond O. Smithgall and Dorothy J. (Mott) Smithgall.
Scott was married to Julie (Choban) Smithgall and enjoyed cars, boats, motorcycles and airplanes. He loved driving around Tioga county and a telling a good joke.
Scott was retired from Osram Sylvania, Wellsboro, PA.

He is survived by mother: Dorothy, Canton; wife, Julie; son and daughter-in-law: Cameron and Marissa Smithgall, Ephrata, PA; daughter and son-in-law: Maren and Greg Brown, Denville, NJ; brother and sister-in-law: Tom and Barb Smithgall, Lancaster, PA; sister and brother-in-law: Mary-Beth and Tom Schoonover, Canton, PA; grandsons: Emmett Brown and Ian Brown and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
