Robert G. Fleury, Esquire, 73, of Troy, PA formally of the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia, was born into eternal life on August 3, 2018. He passed away peacefully at home, while surrounded by his wife, children, brothers and sister in law.
Born on December 8, 1944, in Philadelphia, Robert Gerard was a son of the late Austin "Gus" and Dolores (Johnston) Fleury.
On February 13, 1965, Bob married the former Patricia Ann Mathenia in Philadelphia, where they lived until Bob moved with his wife and newborn baby, Christina, to Bradford County, when he began his first career as a Pennsylvania State Trooper. Robert was a Pennsylvania State Trooper for 11 years, retiring from the Towanda, PA barracks in 1978.
He received his Bachelor Degree from Mansfield State College, and then earned a law degree from the University of Toledo Law School and was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 1983. Mr. Fleury initially served as a temporary Public Defender for Bradford County for two years before beginning a private practice in 1985.  He then served as Bradford County District Attorney from 1988 until returning to private practice in 1995.

From 2007 until his retirement due to health reasons in 2015, Bob served as the Bradford County conflict counsel. On May 8, 2015, he was honored by both his friends, colleagues and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania House of Representatives for his 47 plus years of caring and dedicated public service, receiving a special outpouring of love and congratulations from past and present friends, coworkers, both from the courthouse and from the PA State Police. He treasured his friends and was overwhelmed by the sentiments expressed by so many on that day.
Bob had many interests in life. He was an accomplished woodworker, stamp collector and he especially enjoyed shopping for unique and special items that were often displayed around his home in Alba Heights. Many of his friends were the recipients of his crazy shopping sprees and woodworking toys. He loved his family dearly, and loved to keep track of all of the silly things his grandchildren said over the years, which gave him great joy
Surviving Bob is his beloved wife of 53 years, Patricia; children, Christina Fleury, Troy, PA, Tony Fleury (Amanda Schraeder), Northumberland, PA and Matt (Jen) Fleury, Canton, PA; grandchildren, Hannah, Jacob, and Isaac Fleury; brothers, Austin Fleury, Philadelphia, Chaplain (Colonel) Joseph Fleury, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, Stephen (Arlene) Fleury, Philadelphia and Gerald (Eileen) Fleury, Richboro, PA, many nieces, nephews, cousins, special neighbors, friends, and co-workers.
In addition to his parents, Robert was predeceased by siblings; Dolores Ann Swope and Jim Fleury.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 A.M. Wednesday, August 8, with Bob's brother, Father Joseph Fleury as celebrant, and concelebrated by Father Peter J. O'Rourke and Father Edward Michelini, at St. Michael's Church located in Canton.
Burial followed in St. Michael's Cemetery.
The family suggests any charitable memorial donation in Mr. Fleury's name to St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church, 106 N. Washington St. Canton, PA 17724 or to the Alba First Christian Church, c/o S. Young, 15472 Route 14, Troy PA 16947.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, Canton.
