Born on December 8, 1944, in Philadelphia, Robert Gerard was a son of the late Austin "Gus" and Dolores (Johnston) Fleury.
On February 13, 1965, Bob married the former Patricia Ann Mathenia in Philadelphia, where they lived until Bob moved with his wife and newborn baby, Christina, to Bradford County, when he began his first career as a Pennsylvania State Trooper. Robert was a Pennsylvania State Trooper for 11 years, retiring from the Towanda, PA barracks in 1978.
He received his Bachelor Degree from Mansfield State College, and then earned a law degree from the University of Toledo Law School and was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 1983. Mr. Fleury initially served as a temporary Public Defender for Bradford County for two years before beginning a private practice in 1985. He then served as Bradford County District Attorney from 1988 until returning to private practice in 1995.
Bob had many interests in life. He was an accomplished woodworker, stamp collector and he especially enjoyed shopping for unique and special items that were often displayed around his home in Alba Heights. Many of his friends were the recipients of his crazy shopping sprees and woodworking toys. He loved his family dearly, and loved to keep track of all of the silly things his grandchildren said over the years, which gave him great joy
