Robert C. “Bob” Longenecker, 78, Troy, formerly of Shunk and Berks County PA, was called home to his Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 26, 2016 from the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre
Bob was born March 7, 1938 in Mohnton, PA, a son of the late Martin L. and Violet (Mosser) Longenecker.
He was a 1956 graduate of Governor Miffin High School and later served in the U.S. Marine Corps.  Bob was a self-employed contractor for many years.
He became specialized in many applications involving concrete work and was a construction foreman with Stief Concrete Co. of New Holland, PA until retiring.   After retiring, he moved to Sullivan County, PA where he worked as a landscaper and did lawn care.  Bob was an active member of Shunk’s United Methodist Church and a past member of the Evangelical Congregational Church in Mohnton.  He also served as a past Constable of Adamstown Borough, PA.
Bob’s passion in life was collecting and restoring antique cars and motorcycles.  He also was an avid gardener and landscaper; an enthusiastic bird watcher and a big fan of NASCAR.   Bob especially enjoyed times spent at many local car shows, flea markets and auctions.   He always looked forward to the spring and fall equipment auctions at the Troy Fair Grounds.

Surviving is his companion and friend, Delores Hartford, Troy; the Hartford children and their families;  children, Pamela Shenk, Reading, PA, Robert Longenecker Jr., Mt. Wolf, PA and David Longenecker,  Millsboro, DE; a brother, Barry Longenecker, Adamstown, PA; several grandchildren and nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his son, Scott Longenecker; two siblings, Betty L. Henry and William Longenecker and a brother-in-law, Ray N. Henry.
Friends may call Saturday June 11, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Shunk United Methodist Church.  Pastor Gerald Schmidt and Rev. Herbert Eby will officiate the memorial service at 11 a.m.
Burial will be in the Mohnton Cemetery at a later date.
Those who wish may consider a memorial in Mr. Longenecker’s name to the Shunk U.M. Church, c/o 43 N. Center St. Canton, PA 17724 or to a charity of one’s choice.
Pepper Funeral Home, 578 Springbrook Dr. in Canton is in care of arrangements.
