Born in Canton, Pa. Oct. 4, 1932, Charles Richard, “Dick” to family and friends, was a son of the late Leland Daniel and Anna Elora (Dexter) Pratt. He grew up on the family’s dairy farm in Granville Township. Dick graduated from Troy High School in 1951 where he was active in the Future Farmers of America. On Oct. 11, 1953, he married the former Joyce Dunbar in the Bakersburg Community Church. Richard possessed a strong work ethic all his life.
In addition to the daily operations of the Pratt Family Dairy, he also worked at Canton’s Swayze Folding Box Company for several years before working as a perk tester for Tioga County, Pa. In his early years, Dick found his calling by dedicating his life in service to the Lord. He was an active member of the former East Granville Baptist Church, serving in many church offices including deacon and later as pastor. More recently, Dick was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Canton.
Surviving is his beloved Joyce, his wife of 65 years, children; Wayne E. (Claire) Pratt of Granville Summit and Linda L. Fulford of Williamsport, six grandchildren; Vernon C. Sager II of Columbia Cross Roads, Christopher B. (Daphne) Sager of Ridgebury, Scott (Maggie) Pratt of Granville Summit, Abram Fulford of Troy, Joseph Fulford of Towanda and Caitlin (Chance) Wright of Troy, great grandchildren; Sophia Wright and Parker Pratt, three siblings; Gerald (Marjorie) Pratt of Granville Summit, Paul (Patty) Pratt of Burgettstown and Dorothy (Larry) Stone of Canton, a son-in-law, Vernon C. Sager Sr. of Columbia Cross Roads, sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law; Doris (Robert) Sherman, Harriet Raub, May Dunbar all of Troy and Lloyd W. Dunbar of Columbia Cross Roads; special friend, Julia Beach of Troy, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends and neighbors.
Richard was predeceased by a brother, Miles B. Pratt, son-in-law; Robert Brown Fulford III, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Larry Raub, Thomas Dunbar, Linda Dunbar, Harry “Pete” Dunbar, Ralph Dunbar, Jr., and Wayne (Evelyn) Dunbar.
Family invited friends to call 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, at Pepper Funeral Home & Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Dr. Canton. Richard’s pastor, Rev. John Lattimer, officiated the funeral service at 1 p.m. Burial followed in Bradford County Memorial Park in Luthers Mills.
