Born February 10, 1929 in Eden, NY, Richard was one of 12 children in the family of the late Stanley and Julia (Zombeck) Blasz.
On Oct. 1, 1949 he married the former Mary Weiss in Eden’s St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Dick was always a hard worker and enjoyed his 38-year career with Tennessee Gas & Pipeline Company. He started as a laborer and retired in 1989 as Plant Supervisor at the Troy, PA facility. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Canton.
Dick told it as he saw it. Sometimes strong-willed, he also was blessed with a great sense of humor and wit, (i.e. “THE NYNOVUS”). Most of all, Dick will be lovingly remembered as a devoted family man.
He enjoyed many interests and talents including an appreciation of nature and being outdoors, gardening, woodworking and playing cards, especially Euchre.
Dick was predeceased by siblings; Charlotte May, Vincent Blasz, Estelle Kobiolka, Stephen Blasz, Bernice Pfarner, infant Julia, Edward Blasz, Alfred Blasz, Genevieve Krycia and Felix Blasz.
The funeral service was held on Saturday, by Rev. Joseph Kutch with a Mass of Christian Burial, at St. Michael’s Church, Canton.
Burial followed in St. Michael's Cemetery
The family suggests those who wish consider a donation in Richard’s name to St. Michael’s Alter & Rosary Society at 106 N. Washington St. Canton, PA or to Guthrie Hospice, 421 Tomahawk Rd. Towanda, PA 18848.
