Born July 18, 1946 in Waverly, N.Y., Ruth Diann was a daughter of the late Theron Albert and Ruth Naomi (Harbst) Seymour. She was blessed with a strong work ethic all her life. In her younger years, she worked at the former Widman’s Store in Canton for a time and also assisted with the daily operations of the Owen dairy farm in Canton Township. Diann will be remembered for opening both her home and heart when caring for the young and elderly alike. She was employed for several years with Dr. Raymond Seeley’s Eye Care in Troy until retiring. Diann was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness Church in Towanda. She loved animals and was a big supporter of the area ASPCA and Humane Societies. She was a real people person who loved to visit and just be around friends and family, but her grandchildren were the light of her life. Diann also had many interests; special times were spent reading, crocheting, shopping, being outdoors and the blessings of spring flowers. She was a huge fan of the late Elvis Presley.
Diann was predeceased by her husband of 22 years, Edward Owen in 1997, son Carl Beck in 1974, a grandson Joshua, step-daughter Nelle Jean Owen, her biological father H.Carlyle Russell and step-brother Rick.
