Phyllis knew at an early age what she wanted. At age nine she was given a boat ride by a young Robert Rockwell; she told someone immediately after that she was going to marry that man—and she did. Phyllis and Bob enjoyed nearly 43 years of married life until Bob’s passing in 1991. They raised six children together as family was the most important part of each of their lives.
Phyllis was an excellent wife and homemaker. As many can attest, she was a marvelous cook and baker. She was given the rare gift of being able to make anything taste good. She was also hard working, cared deeply for her six children, kept a loving home, and supported her husband and children in all of their endeavors. She loved being a wife and mother as it was her dream and purpose.
Phyllis is survived by those six children: Gail (Ted) Franklin, LeRoy; Roger (Stephanie) Rockwell, Sayre; Brian (Kim) Rockwell, Cogan Station; Susan Rockwell, LeRoy; Robert M. Rockwell, LeRoy; and Kelly (Robert) Nearing, LeRoy. Additionally, she is survived by her brother Edward Long, Powell, PA; nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, two nephews Keith Long and Todd Bacon, and a niece Collette Franklin.
