Born on January 13, 1925 in Salem, West Virginia, Orley was the son of the late Ernest and Anna Knight Ford.
In service to his country, Orley served during WWII in the U.S. Coast Guard. After the war, he married the love of his life, Doris Beechey, and she predeceased him on November 6, 2011. Orley retired from Royal Insurance as a claims manager after 40 years of dedicated service. A born again Christian, Orley worshiped at the Fassett Baptist Church where he had been very active.
Surviving is his loving family: children, Kathleen "Kate" McKenzie, Elmira; Dennis "Denny" (Tammy Watson) Ford, Fasset; daughter-in-law, Maryellen Ford, Demopolis, AL; grandchildren, Michele Kotch, Elizabeth (Curtis Poole) Manzella, Christina (David Henson) Ford and Daniel Ford; great grandsons, Jason Lawes, DeSean Poole, and David Henson, Jr.; several nieces, nephews and many family friends. In addition to his parents and Doris, Orley was predeceased by his beloved son, Tim Ford.
Family and friends will be received at Caywood's Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway, Southport/Elmira on Saturday, October 3, 2015, from 10-11 a.m. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. with his pastor and friend, Rev. Donald Rockwell officiating. Full military honors will be accorded Mr. Ford in the Gardens following the memorial service. His ashes will be interred, along with those of Doris, in Woodlawn National Cemetery.
