Michael R. Starkey “Bear," age 54 of Starkey Lane, Columbia Cross Roads, Pa., passed away at home on Sunday, October 7, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Michael was born Dec. 18, 1963 in Troy, Pa., son of Paul H. and Gladys J. (VanZile) Starkey. He was employed with the Williams Company as an Operations Technician having previously worked at Cummings Lumber for 28 years. Michael was a member of the First Baptist Church of Troy and Pine Lodge. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing all over the United States and Canada. He had recently started pheasant hunting, which he really enjoyed.
In addition to his parents, Michael is survived by his loving wife Carlene M. (Sims) Starkey of Columbia Cross Roads, their daughter and son-in-law, Kylie M. (Anthony) Carter of Gillett, their son, Korey M. Starkey at home, sisters Paula (Alan) Wilcox of Middletown, and Kathy (Josh) Bryington of Canton, father and mother-in-law, Gary & Edwina Sims of Troy, sister and brother-in-law, Judy (Jason) McMullen of Mansfield, nieces and nephews Julie & Brian, Mindy Kay & Jay, Brooke & Stephen, Cassady, Jordan, Branden, Jenna, Nicholas, Jaydon, as well as several great-nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and his four legged companion, Reese.
Michael was predeceased by his brother, Mark, on Oct. 8, 1976.
Family and friends were invited Friday, Oct. 12, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Gerald W. Vickery Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 1093 West Main Street, Troy, Pa. 16947.
