Michael “Mike” Palmer, 68, Canton, (formerly of Malden, Mass.) passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, December 21, 2015.
Michael Layne was born September 23, 1947 in Sayre, PA to the late Thomas Palmer and the late June (Wilcox) Shadduck and step father, Stanley D. Shadduck.
As a young man, Mike graduated from Canton High School with the class of 1965 and entered the Coast Guard where he served during Vietnam.
Following his discharge, he settled in Massachusetts. In Boston he was employed as a truck driver/dispatcher for many years until his retirement.

Mike loved to golf and was a member of the Corey Creek Golf Club in Mansfield, PA. He was an avid reader and belonged to the NRA. He possessed a giving nature and donated to a variety of charities. Throughout life Michael’s main interest encompassed spending time with family and his many friends.
Surviving are his sons; Michael T. (Carrie) Palmer, Hadley, MA, Joe (Mary) Palmer, Saugus, MA; sister, Suzanne (Ron) Geroul, Canton, PA; aunt, Shelby Deets, Webster, NY; several brothers-in law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by grandparents, Alfred “Speed” and Bess Wilcox and feline friend, Julius.
A celebration of Mike’s life and burial in Beech Flats Cemetery will be announced at a later date.
