He was born May 8, 1933 in Lancaster PA. He married Irene Martin April 20, 1957. Mel was a dairy farmer all of his life and also a Pastor at Wheelerville Mennonite Church.
Mel loved people; family, friends, and those who needed a second chance. He had a lifelong passion to connect people with Jesus.
Melvin is survived by his wife of 59 years, Irene Good and his four sons and daughters-in-law: Jay and Faye Good, Canton; Clair and Beth Good, Africa; Clifford and Cheryl Good, Muncy, PA; Jeff and Denise Good, East Berlin, PA. Mel also had sixteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Eunice Ndgenda was his special caregiver for the last three years.
He was predeceased by his sister, Marian (Richard) Martin in December 2015.
Visitation hours are Friday evening from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. at North Street Community Church, 177 North Street, Canton. There will be a graveside committal service Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. at the East Canton Cemetery. There will be visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the North Street Community Church followed by a celebration of Melvin’s life at 11:00 a.m. at the same place. There will be a time of visitation and sharing after the service.
