Marlene Ayres, 81, East Smithfield Township, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at the Towanda Memorial Skilled Nursing Unit, Towanda.
She was born on Aug. 10, 1935 in Binghamton, N.Y., and raised with love by her parents Eugene and Marion (Robinson) Rockwell.
On June 14, 1958 she married the love of her life Richard W. Ayres at the Hornbrook United Methodist Church and together they built a home and raised a family on love and faith.
Marlene was an avid quilter and camper and enjoyed volunteering with the United Methodist Women. She loved the outdoors and belong to many camping clubs, including the Mount Laurel Camping Club.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Marion Rockwell, and a sister, Carmeta Wainwright.
Marlene is survived by her husband, Richard W. Ayres, at home, and sons Dale Shaffer II of Milan and Kevin Ayres of East Smithfield. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

A period of visitation took place at the Ulster United Methodist Church, 80 2nd St., Ulster, on Monday, July 17, 2017 followed by a service with the Rev. Dr. Phillip Wanck officiating.
