Marlayne Swartz, 49, Canton Township, passed away on March 3, 2018.
Born June 21, 1968 in Middletown, NY, Marlayne Louann was a daughter of Aurelius John Swartz of Canton and the late Elizabeth “Betty” (Filipowski) Swartz. She was a member of Canton High School’s graduating class of 1986.
As a young girl she loved riding and caring for horses, participating in 4-H, cheerleading and was on the Senior Ball Court. She went to school to be a Travel Agent and worked as a Veterinarian Technician in earlier years.
Marlayne will be lovingly remembered for her kind, thoughtful spirit; she also loved an adventure. Marlayne possessed a big heart and beautiful soul. She could talk to anyone, made friends easily and would do anything for anyone. She loved all God’s animals and insects and aspired to be more in-tune with the Earth and Mother Nature. Other interests included traveling, photography, gardening, dancing and relaxing on a beautiful beach.

Surviving are her father John and his friend Doris Gowin; sisters Melanie Swartz, Canton, Melissa Swartz-Soper and friend Dave Houseknecht, Sayre, Michele (Chico) Deitrick, Canton, longtime friend, Lisa Eighmey, Canton and her children; Joshua and Chelsie Jayne, Harley Jayne, Jacob Jayne, Jared Jayne and Paige Navone; grandchildren; Jonas, Nevaeh, Elizabeth, Winter, Willow, Jayden, William, Killian and Jerikk; nieces and nephews; Taylor (Nichole) Witman, Waverly, NY, Rachel (Bill) Bailey, Nichols, NY, Kimberly Witman, Lake City, FL, Emily Witman, Appalachian, NY, Cassie (Scott) Terwilliger, Waverly, NY, Devan (Kayla) Witman, Tioga Center, NY; 7 great nieces, 7 great nephews and several cousins, her dogs, Diva and Asteroid and several cats.
Marlayne was predeceased by her mother Elizabeth.
A private family service will be held at Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, Canton.
