Born Oct. 1, 1925, in Roulette, she was the daughter of J. Walter and Thelma Matteson Metzger. On Nov. 6, 1943, in Olean, N.Y., she married Everett N. Gooch, who preceded her in death on Aug. 9, 2007.
Marjorie was a graduate of Coudersport High School. She was a member of the Park United Methodist Church and attended the Hebron Seventh Day Baptist Church.
She worked beside her husband on the family farm from 1943 to 1973, as a bookkeeper at the Citizens Trust Company for over 20 years and as an aide at the Mapleview Nursing Home for two years. Among her hobbies she enjoyed oil painting, sewing and cooking. She was a self-taught pianist and sang in the church choir.
Surviving are children, Karen Gilliland, Troy, Kristine (Dennis) Smoker, Genesee, Jay (Kelly) Gooch, East Earl, Jeffrey Gooch of Schnecksville, Thomas (Michelle) Gooch, Coudersport and Timothy (Rhonda) Gooch, Wellsboro; sister, Dawn Newton, Coudersport; sisters-in-law, Wanda Metzger, Lemoyne and Dana Kenyon, Coudersport; eighteen grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents; husband Everett; brother, Arthur Metzger; and son-in-law, Thomas Gilliland.
The funeral was held Dec. 19 at the at Park United Methodist Church Coudersport, with Rev. Scott Ogden and The Rev. Carl Green will officiating. Burial was in the Woodland Cemetery.
