Marilyn was born on April 8, 1936 in Athens, a daughter of the late Clarence and Jennie Amanda (Campbell) Wandell. She was a member of Troy High School’s graduating class of 1954. On December 30, 1955, Marilyn married DeWayne Vinson in Wellsburg, NY. They shared 54 years together before his passing on June 12, 2010.
Marilyn’s faith in the Lord guided her life. She was a very active member of Sylvania’s Church of Christ and served as treasurer of their Missionary Society. Marilyn also was a long-time member of TOPS, reaching the KOPS level of achievement. Times shared with loved ones was very important to Marilyn; her laughter was contagious and she was blessed with many friends. She loved all animals, especially her cats. She was the family’s historian and researched genealogy for several years. Marilyn also was a NASCAR and Jeff Gordon fan. Surviving are her children, Vickie Vinson (Gary), South Williamsport and DeWayne Lee Vinson (Linda),Troy; grandchildren, Jennifer (Chris) Gatsche, Williamsport, Matthew (Doniessa) Vinson, Emily Vinson and Nicholas Vinson all of Troy; great grandchildren, Katelyn, Reese, Holden, Wyatt and Brooklyn; brother, Clair (Linda) Wandell, Sayre; 11 sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Julia Wandell of Van Etten, NY, Linda (Kevin) Polovick of Sayre, Ethel (Bobby) Anderson of Tennessee, Dolores Henry of Michigan, NedDale Vinson of Athens, Garth (Carol) Vinson of Kentucky, Merle Merrit of Michigan and Wanda Alexander, Sayre; foster-son, Theron Beck of Texas; three aunts, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends and neighbors.
Calling hours were Nov. 12, at the Church of Christ in Sylvania. Her pastor, Rev. George Ogden officiated the funeral service. Burial followed in Lane Cemetery in Luthers Mills.
