Marian V. Holcombe, 103, Wilmington, NC formerly of Edgewood Drive, Troy, passed away early Monday morning, February 5, 2018 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Center in Wilmington, NC.
Born September 23, 1914 in Rome Township, Bradford County, she was the daughter of the late Robert R. and Mabel Conklin Horton.
Marian was a graduate of Rome High School Class of 1932. On December 24, 1934, she married Guy D. Holcombe in Horseheads, NY who preceded her in death on September 14, 1990. In 1945, Mr. and Mrs. Holcombe moved to Towanda, and were licensed agents for the Nationwide Insurance Company for 32 years, retiring in 1976. Marian and Guy also operated the Western Union Office in Towanda for 20 years.
Marian played in the family orchestra at dances throughout the area for 30 years. She was a past member of Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 26, Rome, Towanda Business and Professional Women’s Organization, Towanda Garden Club, and the North Towanda United Methodist Women’s group. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Troy, and the United Methodist Women.
Marian and Guy enjoyed spending their winter months in Florida from 1975 to 1988.

Surviving are her daughters, Lillian Martin, Columbus, OH, Lana Desloges, Wilmington, NC; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Patricia Holcombe, Gloucester, NC, son, Randy G. Holcombe, Columbia Cross Roads; grandchildren, Gregory Martin and wife Laura, Philadelphia, PA, Brian Martin, Columbus, OH, Lisa Holcombe Hampsey, Fayetteville, NC, Leslie Jo Holcombe Craig, Winston Salem, NC, Chantal Desloges Hayes (Graham), Winston Salem, NC; great grandchildren, Nicholas Hampsey, Christina Hampsey, Melia Martin, Minae Martin, Katie Martin, Fiona Hayes, Natalia Hayes, Sienna Hayes, Kayla Craig, Brad Craig and Brooke Craig; great great grandchildren, Viviana and Braxton, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband and parents, Marian was predeceased by sisters, Leila O’Connor, Beulah Hotaling and husband John, and brother, Harry Horton.
A graveside memorial service will be held at the Rome Cemetery, Rome, PA and will be announced at a later date.
