Lorraine Shisler, 77, of Shunk, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at the Bradford County Manor.
Born in Bucks County, Sellersville, PA on October 21, 1938, Lorraine was a daughter of the late Wilmer and Ann (Godshalk) Cressman. She attended the Kulpsville Elementary and Intermediate Schools and in 1956 graduated from North Penn High School in Lansdale, PA. Lorraine’s first job was with the Borough of Lansdale as an assistant to the borough secretary. She maintained her interest in government affairs throughout her lifetime.
Lorraine married Robert Shisler on Sept. 5, 1958 at the Kulpsville United Church of Christ by Rev. James T. Rubright. She was a devoted wife and mother and they were blessed with two sons.
In 1979, she and Robert purchased and operated Shelly’s Farm and Home Center, a farm store business and Agway dealership, in Vernfield, Montgomery County, PA. Lorraine was very active in its operations until retiring in 2002. The Shislers then moved to Sullivan County where she served as a Fox Township secretary and later as an auditor.
Lorraine enjoyed reading, painting and music, but most of all she enjoyed having her family and other friends around her. She was a very sociable person and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Lorraine had a very strong faith and will now be in Heaven with her Lord and Savior.
Surviving are her husband Robert; sons, Robert Shisler, Jr. of Hereford, Berks County and Dale Shisler of Shunk; a twin sister, Loretta Schirmer and five siblings, Valeria Freed, Alice Strawser, Annette Jacobs, Wellington Cressman and Lt. Colonel (Ret.) James Cressman.
In keeping with Mrs. Shisler’s wishes, there will be no public services. Burial will be in Quaker Cemetery in Shunk at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, consider a memorial in Mrs. Shisler’s name to American Rescue Workers, 643 Elmira St. or The Lycoming County SPCA, 2805 Reach Rd. both are in Williamsport, PA 17701 or to a charity of one’s choice.
