He was a member of the First United Methodist Church for 76 years, Elyria Senior Fellowship, Elyria Elks Club, Elyria Eagles Club and the Stanadyne retirement group. He enjoyed gardening, bowling, golfing, square dancing, traveling with the Senior Fellowship group, and especially playing cards.
He is survived by sons Larry (Bobbie) Sheffield, Audubon, PA; Fred (Jeanette) Sheffield, Hiram, GA; and Lee (Laurie) Sheffield, Elyria; daughters, Linda (Jack) Drage, Edenton, NC; and LuAnne (Doug) Taylor, Zephyrhills, FL; twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-six great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Arlene who died in 1999; granddaughter, Jennifer Taylor; his parents; and his siblings, Alma Henson, Henry Sheffield, Ruth Heiden, Mark Sheffield and Earl Sheffield.
Lester Sheffield was the grandfather of Abigail (Taylor) May & Rebecca (Taylor) Castle, both of Canton
Services were held at 11:30 am.,Thursday Jun. 11th, in the Chapel at Wesleyan Village, 807 West Ave., Elyria, Ohio. Burial was in Pittsfield East Cemetery, St. Rt 303, Pittsfield, OH.
