Leonore Best, 70, Roaring Branch, PA (Union Twp.) passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on Monday morning, April 9, 2018 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre.
Born July 15, 1947, in Spencertown, PA, Leonore Maxine was a daughter of the late Andrew and Pauline (Patterson) McIlwain. She married Leroy “Paul” Best on November 17, 1968 in Columbia Cross Roads.
Leonore was employed by Canton Manufacturing Co. in Canton for over 22 years until her health no longer permitted.

She possessed a strong faith in the Lord. Leonore will be lovingly remembered as a hard worker who had a great sense of humor. She was known to give someone else her last dollar and she had a special talent of joke telling; never telling the same one twice. She also loved to dance, play cards, was a good cook and she and Paul took many trips to Atlantic City. Leonore was a former member of Canton’s V.F.W Auxiliary, Morris Run’s American Legion Post and Canton Women of the Moose.
In addition to her husband Paul, surviving are her children; Tammy (Tim) Stettler, Canton and Jeremy Best (Missy Ward, Troy; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; Janice Ward, Granville Summit, Betty Morgan, Canton, Doris Wright, Hammonsport and Dale (Kathy) Best, Canton; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Also dear friends; Diane and Bob Jones, Granville, Sara Burgess, Canton, LaVern Rutty, Ithaca and Alisha Ragan, Canton.
She was predeceased by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Bob and Marge Best, Lloyd Best, Marty Best, Jim Best, Beatrice Best, Robert Ward, Glen Morgan and Bill Wright.
Special family friend, Mrs. Jen Jones will officiate a memorial service to honor Leonore’s life at 1 p.m. Friday, April 13, at Pepper Funeral Home & Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Dr. in Canton. Burial will be in Beech Flats Cemetery at a later date.
