Born in Hainesville, NJ on Mar. 19, 1929, Kenneth James was a son of the late James Utter and Frances Drake. In younger years, Ken worked in New Jersey for many years as a heavy equipment operator. On June 12, 1970 he married the former Priscilla Blakeslee in Elkton, MD. Following retirement in 1992, the Utter’s made their home in LeRoy Township where Ken continued to work part-time at his excavation business. Kenneth possessed a strong work ethic all his life. He enjoyed the outdoors especially his occupation, hunting and just keeping busy. Tinkering was a talent that came naturally.
Surviving is his beloved Priscilla, his wife of 48 years, children; Frances “Ann” (Thomas) Courtright of Newton, NJ, Kenneth Carl Utter of Kingston, N.Y., several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, three half-siblings; Janet (Pete) VanDaren of Burns, TN, Rose Utter of Gillett, Pa. and Carl (Arlene) Grover of Rickman, TN, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends and neighbors.
Kenneth was predeceased by a half- brother, Myron Grover and two grandchildren.
In keeping with Mr. Utter’s wishes, there will be no public services. Pepper Funeral Home & Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Dr. in Canton is assisting the family with arrangements.
