Born June 14, 1936 in Ogdensburg, Joyce Anne was a daughter of the late Archie Carey and Marjorie (Jackson) Carey Gardener and stepdaughter of the late Wayne Gardener. She was a 1954 graduate of Liberty High School.
Joyce was the wife of Joseph Blair for 50 years before his passing on Aug. 27, 2005.
She was employed by Canford Manufacturing in Canton before retiring from Wundies Co. in Liberty following 25 years. Joyce was member of East Point United Methodist Church. She was a life-member and very active with Ralston’s Deer Crossing Marine Corps, often helping with cooking. She also cooked for Bear Hollow Hunting Club in Buttonwood for over 26 years.
Joyce was a caring and supportive person who was happiest when staying busy. Often one would find her helping someone or volunteering for a good cause. She was devoted to her family and loved sharing times with her great grandchildren. Joyce appreciated nature, spending hours watching and feeding the wild birds and tending her flowers. She also enjoyed going on many trips and a special time at Lake Tahoe.
Surviving are three daughters, Joanne (Lonnie) Schmouder, English Center, Cynthia (Dale) Shellenberger, Roaring Branch and Catherine (Charles) Winnie, Tioga; grandchildren, Tonya Schmouder-Lund, Allentown, Tressa Struble, Toms River, NJ, Shawna Shellenberger, Elmira, NY, Dale Shellenberger, Jr. and Dustin Shellenberger, Liberty; five great grandchildren, Emma, Annabelle and Brody Struble, Bradley and Rileigh Shellenberger; siblings, Ronald (Carol Ann) Carey, Canton and Joan Kehres, Roaring Branch; many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors; special nephew, Kevin Kehres, East Point and special friends; Robert, Theresa, Darren and Amber Alexander all of Trout Run.
In addition to her husband Joe, she was predeceased by her daughter, Brenda Blair on June 28, 2001 and brother-in-law, Roland Kehres
Calling hours are 2 to 4 pm Friday, Apr. 3, at Pepper Funeral Home, 578 Springbrook Dr. Canton. Her pastor, Rev. Tom Harmick will officiate the funeral service at 4 pm. Burial will be in East Point Cemetery at a later date.
