Joyce spent her early years as a stay at home raising two children until the death of Cynthia Kay Schmidt. It would be two years later that Joi-Ann was born to rekindle the parenting skills of Joyce. She enjoyed fishing in the Rehoboth Bay, and camping. She worked for the former Capitol Campus in Middletown before retiring in Millsboro, DE, working for a short time as a van driver for a nursing home.
Surviving are her son Gerald Jr. (Paula), and daughter Joi-Ann (Selena), two grandsons Paul (Jennifer), and Josh, and two granddaughters, Rachel and Catie. She is also survived by a sister Janet Clark, brothers-in-law Joseph "Pete" (Roberta) Schmidt, Mike (Joan) Schmidt, and sisters-in-law Barbara (Clarence) Hawkins, and Susan (Tom) Morgan. She is also survived by many nephews, nieces, and great nephews and nieces.
Services will be at a later date at the convenience of the family.
