On the afternoon of October 25th, 2015, John Frederick Frey of Canton passed away quietly at Troy Community Hospital after a brave battle with cancer attributed to exposure to Agent Orange while in the service of his country. He was 67 years of age.
Born in Canton February 23rd, 1948, he was the son of John S. Frey and Nellie (Bolt) Frey.
He was married to the former Juanita Smith, and together they raised two sons and a daughter. John was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the Fourth U. S. Army. He was a life member of the Canton VFW and a member of the Canton American Legion.
Surviving are his wife, Juanita, at home; sons Nevada “Bert” Frey (& Joyce Seeley), Cheyenne (& Meleney) Frey and daughter Sonya (& Josh) Metzger, all of Canton; sisters Judy (Darrin) Minthorn, Ralston and Barbara Miller, Williamsport; as well as eight grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Nellie Frey, brother James Frey and brother-in-law Steve Miller.
Viewing will be 3:30 to 5 PM, Thursday, the 29th at Morse & Kleese Funeral Home, 94 N. Center St., Canton. Service to follow at 5 P.M. with Pastor Will Strunk officiating.
