Born Aug. 3, 1936 in Somerville, Somerset County, N.J., he was the son of Abram and Grace (Drake) Covert. He was one of 11 children.
Jack attended the Millstone School in Somerset and went on to own two successful businesses: Covert’s Excavating and Somerset and Jack’s Place in Ralston. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, The Red Run Rod and Gun Club, The Wheel Inn Private Club, The Somerset Volunteer Fire Company, where he was an officer for many years, the Franklin Farmer’s Hunting Club and a strong supporter of the National Rifle Association.
In addition to his wife, Jack is survived by three children: Kenny Covert (Anne Marie) of Somerset, N.J., Kim Black (Darryl) and Kris Covert (Amanda) all of Ralston, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and three sisters.

A private service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
