"Redwood" was retired from G.E. Railcar in Sayre where he worked as a welder. He previously worked as a mechanic at several Ford Dealerships in the area and was known for his superb mechanical skills. After retirement he still “tinkered” and fixed small gas engines and yard equipment. He was an avid stock-car enthusiast. He was a mechanic, driver and became a NASCAR Official working at the Chemung Speedrome. “Redwood” also enjoyed Mini Modified Tractor Pulling. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family and maintaining his great sense of humor right until the end.
Survivors include his loving wife Shirley J. Hulslander, Granville Summit; daughter, Cathy (Earl Brown) Hulslander, Troy; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis (Dyan) Hulslander of Stewartstown, PA, grandchildren, Erik (Megan Flanagan) Roloson, Dane (Kelly) Roloson, Connor Lyon, Noah Huslander, Gabriel Hulslander, Alayna Hulslander; great-grandson, Carter Roloson; brother William Hulslander, Mansfield, PA; sisters, Sandra (Ross) Roupp, Arnot, PA, Patricia Fuller, Mansfield, PA, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents and his 17 year old son Paul David Hulslander.
The funeral was held on April 29 from the Gerald W. Vickery Funeral Home, Inc. Troy, PA. Redwoods Funeral service was held at the conclusion with Reverend Richard Noggle officiating. Interment with full Military Honors will follow in Hulslander Cemetery.
