On the afternoon of January 6th, 2016, Jeannette (Stonebreaker) Burguess of Auburn, NY, formerly of Canton, passed away quietly at Auburn Community Hospital. She was 78 years of age.
Born April 5th, 1937 in Mansfield, she was the daughter of Alvin and Florence (Hilfiger) Stonebreaker.
She was the widow of the late Truman Burguess with whom she raised six children and shared 56 years until his passing in 2009.
Jeannette was known as a hard worker throughout her life, and was employed for many years in the housekeeping department of Bradford County Manor. Never one to mince words, she was known for being honest and straight-forward, and you always knew where you stood with her. She enjoyed flower gardening, cross stitching, her cats and being with her family.

Wayne (& Elizabeth) Burguess, Pinehurst, NC, Wesley (& Maria “Tego”) Burguess, Dalton, PA, Janice Burguess, Versailles, MO, Barbara (& James) Witczak, Bangor, PA, Laurie (& Gregory) Hypes, Auburn, NY, brothers James Bradshaw,TX, Howard Stonebreaker of AL, grandchildren Brandy (& Steve) Pettigrew, Canton, Crystal Putnam, Troy, Scott Burguess, Dalton, Christina Burguess of Pinehurst, NC, Allison Burguess of NC, Jessica (Christopher) Baublitz, York, great-grandchildren Adam Workman, Vanessa Burguess of NC, Zack Pettigrew, Canton and Lane Stroud, Troy.
In addition to her husband, Truman, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amber Burguess.
The funeral service was held January 9th at Morse & Kleese Funeral Home, Canton, with Rev. Garry Zuber, officiating.
