She was born to Herbert & Margaret Decker Ferris in Mt Kisco, NY, growing up there and in Bedford Hills NY. While working as a nurses aide she met a "handsome patient" who would become her husband of 61 years. Moving to Hialeah, Florida with her mother & step father she worked at St Francis Hospital on
Allison Island off Miami Beach.
Wilfred pursued this pretty young lady with a Christmas card and love letters were exchanged. They were married in Hialeah on Aug 13, 1952, first living in Troy, PA and then settling on their farm on Armenia Mt, Bradford County PA. In 1960 they built a house on Minnequa Rd and there raised 5 wonderful children.
Jane worked at the Canton School Cafeterias for over 25 years, enjoying her job as well as getting to know the students, faculty and staff by name. She loved seeing her children and even some of her grandchildren at school during this time. She liked attending her grand children's birthday parties, sporting events and band concerts. Jane had a beautiful voice and love of music which all of her children inherited. She will always be remembered as a frequent patron of many local restaurants, visiting with friends, making new acquaintances and getting to know the staff members.
Surviving are her very loving brother and his wife, Herbert and Stella Ferris and their children; her children James (Tania) Mullen of Canton, Mable (John) Blair of Barbours, Timothy of State College, Susie (Daryl) Krotzer of Liberty, Mary (Curtis) Hamilton of Manheim, 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and several brothers and sisters in law, many nieces and nephews as well as the nurses, aides, staff and residents of Bradford County Manor whose compassion and tender loving care over the past years have made them a part of her extended family forever.
In addition to her parents Jane is predeceased by her husband, Wilfred: their infant daughter Margaret Jane and great granddaughter Evelynn Bliss Webster.
Memorial services for Jane and Wilfred will be held by their children at a later date.
