On Tuesday, June 11, 2019 Helen Margaret (Laudiero) Knecht of Canton passed away peacefully at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre. She was 85 years of age. Born Sept. 12, 1933 in Nyack, N.Y., she was the daughter of Robert and Dorothy (Burns) Laudiero. As a young woman she worked at the Belmar Company in Canton until she met a young Marine named Wilson Knecht. Following a brief courtship they were married in July of 1955. Helen enjoyed the card playing parties she and her friends held. She was a lover of animals, birds and fish, and over the years shared her home with many pets. Most remembered was her cat, Pretty Boy. She was also an accomplished artist, painting beautiful water colors. Helen also served as president of Canton VFW's Ladies' Auxiliary. She enjoyed the Christmas holidays and all of the festive decorations . Most of all she loved spending time with family and friends Helen is survived by her husband, Wilson Knecht, of West Burlington, son John Knecht, daughter Susan (& Stanley) Strong, grandchildren Aaron Lineberry (& Holly Champluvier), John (& Maggie) Knecht, Step-Grandchildren Gabriel Strong and Miranda Wiehagen, great-grandchildren, Aaron Lineberry, Jr., Thomas Lineberry and Jacob Lineberry, sister, Linda Smith and sister-in-law Maryann (John) Mesko. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Julius Donato, Donald Donato and David Reed, sister Kathleen Trautner, brother-in-law Kenneth Knecht and sister-in-law Gladys Knecht.
