Harry was born in Canton Township on August 10,1931 to the late Harry J. and Ruth (Lundy) Jones.
He was a 1949 graduate of Canton High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
On Nov. 30, 1958, Harry married the former Sandra Boyd in the Grover Church of Christ. They were blessed with five children and 56 years together before her passing on Mar. 23, 2015.
Family came first in Harry’s life. In addition to owning and operating a dairy farm near Grover for many years, Harry also enjoyed doing carpentry jobs throughout the area. In earlier years he drove Canton school bus and worked for Penn Dot.
Harry was an active part of the Grover Church of Christ, serving not only as a church elder for more than 50 years, a trustee and Sunday school teacher but was a long-time chairman of the church’s board, their building committee and Sunday school superintendent.
Surviving are his children; Deb (Tom) Brown, Castile, NY, Carol (Larry) Wright of Mt. Wolf, Sharon (Douglas) Schucker, Troy, Don Jones (Marlene Keleher), York and David (Becky) Jones, Burlington; 14 grandchildren, Marc (Carolann) Fitzwater, Castile, Luke (Sarah) Fitzwater, Livonia NY, Kristen (Ed) Gossman, York, Jacob (Maddy Kutz), Clayton (Tiffani Mattocks) and Adam Schucker all of Troy, Nicole Jones (Chris Geibe),York, Brandon Jones (Cortney Fowler), Wrightsville, Sondra Jones, Mifflinburg, Tarah (Dustin) Clark, Gillett, Amanda, Dynah, Levi and Leonna Jones all of Burlington; eight great grandchildren, Adrianna and Hunter Fitzwater, Twins Addison and Kaylee Fitzwater, Abigail, Connor and Grayson Gossman and Aubree Rose Geibe; siblings, Robert Jones, Troy, Harriet (Larry) Smith, Canton and Althea Henne, Montoursville, many nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and dear friends.
In addition to his beloved wife Sandy, he was predeceased by a brother, Carl Jones.
Family invites friends to call 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday at Pepper Funeral Home, 578 Springbrook Dr., Canton with a Masonic service prior. Calling hours are also 11 – 12 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, at the Grover Church of Christ, 498 Grover Road with Pastor Will Strunk officiating and Frank Campbell assisting the funeral service at noon.
Burial will follow in Beech Flats Cemetery with military honors accorded.
