He was born in Williamsport, on January 11, 1951. He was the son of Pauline M. and Harold L. McLaughlin.
“Harry” as he was known to his friends was an avid sports enthusiast. He grew up in Ralston and was active in all sports. He graduated from Canton Area Junior-Senior High School in 1969. He was a pitcher on the varsity baseball team and pitched most games in his junior and senior year. He volunteered his skills to help others, especially in baseball.
Harry worked a variety of jobs over the years including serving many years on a garbage route. He had many friends and was always willing to help others.
He was predeceased by his father, Harold Layton McLaughlin in November, 1990 and his mother Pauline McLaughlin in October 2004.
He is survived by his son, Michael “Mic” McLaughlin and his wife Melanie of Williamsport; four sisters and five brothers. Dennis (Starr) McLaughlin, Ralston, Ricky McLaughlin, Williamsport, Brenda McLaughlin, Cogan Station, Sally Bechdel (Bob), Cogan Station, Ronnie McLaughlin, Turbotville, Debbie Winters, Montgomery, Gerald McLaughlin, Williamsport, Tammy Wesley (Fred), Williamsport, and Steven McLaughlin of Marsh Hill.
At the request of the family, the services will be private. Burial will be held in Wildwood Cemetery.
